Good local roadhouse restaurant feeling. Friendly servers. Good home cooked food. Reasonable prices.

Good typical diner food, with huge portions for breakfast. Kind of like truck stop food, but this place is filled with locals. If you want gormet food, or low calorie, go elsewhere! Food is homemade and good and the portions are huge, so you won't be hungry for lunch later. I wouldn't recomend eating here EVERY day or you will gain some weight! But give yourself a treat, and try this place out.

You can avoid the highway and have a great drive through the desert if you take Varner and Pierson to the 62 and travel east toward 29 Palms. You will be near Joshua Tree but as you reach the town of Yucca, keep your eyes peeled for C & S Diner. It is our favorite spot for breakfast..they have many Mexican dishes and breakfast here will hold you til you get to Kelso Depot.
The road is known as the Utah trail or the Adobe road and the Mojave is wonderful at any time of the year, Be sure to gas up here because the next opportunity will not come before Primm, no longer MGM but Terrible's...and so it is ...terrible. Even the McDonald's here was peculiar...maybe they will improve this location when construction on Buffalo Bills is complete.
Turn by turn instructions are already printed up for you at the California Welcome Centre just down the road . Local atrisans also have their work displayed here. Nothing tacky or pricey.
If you drive this road at night you will be alone all the way. Take water and enjoy the brilliant desert sky.

Fake mashed potatoes, cheapest ingredients, weak recipes, poor soups. This place was good in the past. But I get the feeling the owner is cutting costs, and thinking the public won't notice. The cooks he hires don't have a clue what American homestyle food should taste like. Food often greasy, somewhat burnt, not prepared with care or attention.
