“Very clean... great place to stay”
Reviewed July 4, 2011

This place was great, from the service desk staff to the breakfast staff, everyone was so nice. the room was big, and very clean, the only thing I would suggest is to repair the entrance doors (in the 2nd part). I would definately stay again

We travel out to joshua tree once a year and normaly we stay at a friends house. But this time around we stayed at the Best Western in yucca valley. And I have to say it was a very pleasant stay. I enjoyed the staff they were very polite and professional. We will be back!!!

We stayed for one night on our way to San Diego. As echoed in other reviews on this site, this hotel is average if you just need a basic room but, if you have any problems or concerns during your stay, the front desk staff is unprofessional and untrustworthy. Our room was fine but generic. We were on the first floor and our window was on level with the front parking lot. The bathroom door in our room would not stay open on its own and our room smelled musty. The pool is very small, smelly, and in the middle of the parking lot - if you have kids, I would definitely avoid this hotel.

We checked out early in the morning and smelled smoke in our bathroom as we were packing up our things. However, as we eager to get on the road, we did not complain. We clearly should have complained, as we received a phone call two hours later informing us that we would be charged $250 for smoking in our room. My husband and I are not smokers, but the front desk was insistent that we smoked in our room. We did everything that we could to get the front desk and maintenance staff to check other rooms, as it was clear that smoke from another room came in through our bathroom vent. After calling back 5 times and spending nearly an hour on the phone, the front desk person finally acknowledged that they found the room where the smoking occurred (not ours) and the charge would be removed. In the end, we were not wrongfully charged the smoking fee but the entire situation required significantly more time and effort on our part than necessary.

We sent a customer complaint to BW. Our complaint was followed up by the BW Yucca Valley hotel in a rambling, incoherent e-mail asserting that they were following the correct procedure for smoking in a room (they never seemed to really get that we did not ever smoke in our room and it was entirely their fault for wrongfully accusing us). Overall, an extraordinarily unsatisfactory experience and I would advise anyone against staying at this BW particular location.

Before the Best Western was built a few years ago, the only places to stay in Yucca were really yucky (pun intended). This property can be good sometimes, and not so good other times. One time when I experienced a horrible stay, the owner helped to get things resolved to my satisfaction.

There are two buildings: the main building, which is hotel style, and the back building, which is suites-style. To get to a room in the main building, one goes past the check in area to get to the elevator. In the back building, there is no one there to watch the comings and goings. As a solo female traveler, I prefer the front building. The back building is great for people who will be staying a longer time, perhaps have a family, want a full refrigerator and some ability to cook. The kitchen supplies are sparse (e.g., one spoon, one fork), etc. The pool is closer to the back building.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the highway.

It's interesting that most guests had a better experience than we did. Even though the hotel is new, there are issues that must be addressed. Our room had blood on the bathroom door and door frame. The lights were out in the parking lot for our building. There was no ramp for the luggage dolly at the front door of our building. The laundry room had a bad smell. Since we were tired after hiking all day, we decided to stay the one night. The blood was located in an area we could avoid when using the bathroom. We didn't go out again that night so we avoided the unlit parking lot. As for the lack of a ramp, we were able to lift the luggage dolly over the curb. And, we did our laundry at a laundromat after checking out. Breakfast was ok but I think Hampton Inns have a much better breakfast.

We needed a place to stay near Joshua Tree National Park for a single night. At a rate of about $100, this place fit the bill. Very large rooms, recently constructed. Kids loved the pool (small but serviceable enough for their cannonball contests). I was not aware that room had kitchenette- a nice plus. Didn't realize free breakfast ended at 9am. That was a bummer as we snoozed and losed on that deal. Sparkling clean rooms. Best hotel in the area aromwhat I could see. We'd stay again.

No problems here. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious.

Definitely a good value.

The breakfast was a little bit weak but we managed to fill ourselves up.

Room Tip: Use AAA discount. Reserve online.
