I like the daily surprise menu! It was fun served family style as well. Great service and wine pairings. The food was very fresh and creative! We will be back!

“No fuss brasserie.”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

Visited this casual spot for a Sunday brunch that happened to fall on the Cinco de Mayo long weekend. Thus the lunch menu that day was inspired very loosely by cocina Mexicana.

All in all, the menu featured very good home cooked food. The dishes were served family style, with little or no fuss. The casual service is friendly yet professional at the same time. Their wine list features mostly Napa wines, with a few French gems like the Loire red I eventually ordered (it was one of the cheapest on the list, LOL!).

I visited Ad Hoc just after I visited Domaine Chandon for a flight of aperitif bubbly, as this winery is very close to the restaurant location.

One can’t go wrong dining here, book well in advance, and you will have to reconfirm your reservation with the restaurant before your confirmed reservation date. A bit annoying, yes, but, apparently everybody wants to dine at Ad Hoc, so, I understand their P.O.V. in making sure there are ‘no shows’ each service.

“Delicious and fun.”
Reviewed August 1, 2013 via mobile

After arriving mid afternoon, we wandered off to do some wine tastings. A local highly recommended this restaurant, so off we went. And couldn't have been happier with the choice. Food was fantastic (love the fixed menu), we chose the marrow add-on along with the recommended wine pairings. Beautiful presentation, perfectly executed dishes, delicious and decadent dessert. A perfect start to out vacation!!

“Good atmosphere, good service, disappointing meal :(”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

Although the service and and atmosphere were both very good, the food and wine pairing were disappointing. The 4 courses lacked flavor (especially dessert) and the main course (braised short ribs) lacked both flavor and temperature. The wines paired with each course were "blah" and most of them were not from California?? For a fixed menu, the food and wine could have been so much better.

“a big letdown”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

this was our second visit in 2 years. the first was wonderful--imaginative food, nice atmosphere.
this time:
--surly hostess
--noisy atmosphere; lots of flies (no extra charge)
--very ordinary food, centered on fried chicken that was ok but did not stand out in any way.

at a place like this, with an international reputation and making reservations a task, one is entitled to expect better.
