Six of us had reservations made as soon as we knew we were going to Napa. The "foodies" in the group waited with baited breathe - the non-foodies (me and one other) had a better time with no preconceived notions or awareness about the treat of dining at French Laundry.
We were fortunate to arrive extra early and be able to walk-through and enjoy the farm across the street where the term farm to table really applies. That was enough to get me excited.
I am very glad we had lunch for a four hour (flew by in no time) meal was an adventure in itself. BEST waitstaff ever! We are mimicking the kind of treatment still as we were individually told what was on our plates, down to the tiniest item if we asked.
Two of us had food "issues" so the menu was altered accordingly and I believe our specially prepared items were exquisite.
