“Unbelievable”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2014

We got a last-minute reservation for 4 at the late sitting, what great luck. We were seated at the grotto table in a small room to the right of reception which made the experience more private. The food was a visual and taste treat, unbelievable. What made the experience extra special was the excellent service and conversation with the young staff who served us. A bucket list check off for us, hope to return in the future if the opportunity arises.

“Outstanding dining experience!”

Superb food and attention to service. This is a fine dining experience that should be experienced at least once. Waiters can predict all your needs. Ask for a tour if the kitchen.

“Fabulous food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2014

The food is very delicate, and wonderfully prepared.
The food gives up nothing, but the lack of wine pairing is problematic.
It leaves some compromises as to selecting the appropriate wines to pair.
This is the first 3 star we have ever dined in that did not offer pairing.
The service is also not up to European 3 star standards; however we don't find any US Michelin restaurants up to Europe; Paris in particular.
That said the courses are really elegant, and memorable.

“great , however”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2014

we found the food and service just amazing.
the service was unpretentious and the food excellent.
well worth the price and the difficulty in getting a enervation.
however
the wine service was not acceptable.
we oerderd an nice bottle of white- they came with it already opened!when i enquired, i was told that it was opened in the wine cellar.
ordered a bottle of red and asked that it be opened at the table- which it was.
however
lots odf sediment in the wine.
was served to the last drop- so all glasses were full of sediment

was expecting more...

will, however, be back and hopefully this was but an abberation

“For all the hoopla it was a let down”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2014

It started all good we were in Napa for a wedding and taking the pair of grooms for a special meal at the French Laundry as a treat. Our driver dropped us off and we were seated. Then we find that the menu is two types vegetarian and meat. Two of us ordered meat and two veg. We are from New Orleans and drink wine with abandon. we ordered a nice rose as is it is our favorite. We drank 4 bottles but had to pour most of them ourselves as the staff did not keep our glasses full. One would think they would try to do this as it is major revenue for them! The food was ok but not memorable. We eat at major restaurants consistently and this one fell far short of most.
I would say eat at Bistro Jaunty (which is easier to get in and less expensive) and you will have a better meal.
