Description: This casual, white-tablecloth establishment is where great food, wine and service come together! The "Wine Country" theme allows for diversity, so menus are seasonally revised three times a year. Fall brings risottos with wild mushrooms and squashes. Chilly winter has deep rich braises with root vegetables and hearty potato soups. Summer lightens up with vine ripened heirloom tomatoes, sweet corn, and summer stone fruit. Each of our dishes is paired with the perfect wine, and we never charge corkage fee! Try our daily specials, Vintner's lunch, late night bar menu and delicious desserts. We welcome all residents and visitors of the Napa region to come experience fine dining in our cozy dining room, lively bar or expansive patio. From an intimate dinner to a large celebration, every meal at Hurley's Restaurant is a special food and wine event.

We dined in several restauants while in Napa and Hurley's was our favourite. The casual, yet elegant atmosphere, the simple, yet outstanding menu, the fantastic and unpretentious service and the lively bar area all made our evening at Hurley's very memorable. They sure know how to make polenta! Extra Bonus, no corkage fees!

Although this Yountville staple has good reviews, the food just doesn't live up to the hype. The menu is enticing, for sure, but it's like they're trying too hard to be next best thing. There are so many tasty-sounding items you'd think they'd all be fabulous, but, alas, fellow gastronome, it is not so. The best things here are the simple dishes. I'd avoid anything complicated or which you have the remotist sense that it it's too complicated We had: the peppercorn ahi -- like eating crunchy peppery granola; the butternut squash ravioli -- usually delicious elsewhere, but here saturated with what seems like an Alfredo sauce. The best things we had were the appetizers: Morrocan beef skewers and beet salad. Simple and hard to screw up. With numerous, competing venues in trendy Yountville, there are better choices. Dinner for two with tip but without wine was $100. They do have NO corkage fee, which is a surprise in the Napa area, so bring your own wine and save.

Pros: Good food. Convenient location ( middle of Yountville ).
Cons: Lack of communication. Limited menu.

Suggestion: Everybody in your group should order soup and/or an appetizer and/or side salad

Our group of 4 couples touring the Napa Valley at the end of December needed to stop for lunch in Yountville between visiting wineries and getting ready for New Year's Eve. The town may be small, but the crowds are rather large, so each place we spotted along the main street... Washington...seemed to have a longer line than the last one. Then we noticed Hurley's, a half block from Bouchon, and they were able to seat us within 5 minutes.

- Dining Room: From what I saw, the restaurant seating area is shaped like the letter "L". There's a bar near the front...then a relatively narrow section with tables which opens to a more spacious area at the base of the "L". Furnishings were contemporary, yet warm, with a good amount of natural light.

- Food: Since we arrived at Hurley's around 2 PM and a big New Year's Eve dinner was scheduled for 9 PM at Redd ( a few blocks to the south ), our group didn't need or want to pig-out before the blow-out a few hours later, so most of us got soup and/or salad and/or an appetizer.

I had soup which I can't remember ( it was that good ) and a bowl of calamari which was quite tasty. My wife and some other people had an entrée-size salad 30 minutes after my calamari arrived. She said it was good, but by that time it almost didn't matter.

Why the delay? Our server, a nice young woman, said the kitchen has a policy of not starting to prepare an entrée until the initial course is done. So if one person orders the crab cakes ( but not an entrée ) and a tablemate just wants a big salad, the salad won't get started til the plate of crab cakes is done.

Although our server was friendly and helpful, we didn't know about the policy until I got up and asked somebody "what's going on? People waited 30 minutes for food while others had soup and an appetizer?" It's one thing to have a policy and another to let people know about it.

- Menu: California eclectic. I noticed a choice of 4 appetizers, 4 salads, 1 soup and around 12 entrees, including a few oddballs like "Braised Wild Texas Boar" and "Tamarind and Chipolte Glazed Buffalo Short Ribs". The latter might not be a vegetarian delight, but several of the main dishes either fit that category or one for pescatarians. Hurley's doesn't have a long list of choices, but there's probably something for most people.

- Price and Value: Reasonable.

- Service: Our young lady was nice enough, but did not communicate Hurley's kitchen policy. As a result, people were practically begging for food at 230-3 PM. If they had known, their selections of food ( and restaurant ) might have been different.

- Parking: There's a big outdoor lot on the other side of Washington Street which serves most of the "downtown" area.

- Bathroom: Okay. Nothing bad or fancy.

Hurley's is a respectable choice for people wandering around Yountville. I'd give it 4 stars compared to other restaurants at its position on the food chain, but that long unexpected wait for food left a sour taste in the mouths of many in my group.
