My partner and I discovered this restaurant while walking towards downtown Yontville. This is the perfect restaurant if you are looking for great, simple cuisine with a fun, casual atmosphere. It is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is a newly renovated restaurant just opened around a month ago. We had the tripe with tomato sauce and the sausage pizza special. Both were wonderful, flavorful dishes. We ended the night with the canolli. The dishes are all reasonably priced which is very refreshing in contrast to the over priced places in the area. We will definitely be coming back again soon.

“Just What We Were Looking For”
Reviewed December 26, 2012 via mobile

We stopped by be because this is right across the street from our hotel, the Napa Valley Lodge, and it was exactly what we were looking for: simple, unpretentious, fresh, moderately priced, and really, really tasty. They don't take reservations, but that isn't an issue...yet. I feel like we discovered a culinary gem in the Napa Valley... And we're generally turned off by the whole idea of a culinary gem in Napa Valley.

The staff was wonderfully pleasant, friendly, kind, and helpful from the time we called about their hours earlier in the day through our whole meal. The hostess, the waitress, and the bus boy all were inviting an welcoming and helpful.

The food was simply wonderful. We started with tripe... My partner likes anything remotely unusual. It was like a pasta dish with a great garlic, olive oil, garlic sauce. Next we had a great green salad with a lemon, caper, anchovy dressing. It was a nice, light opening for our pizza, which came next. The pizza was great, too. The crust was thick, but light, and the flavors we're delicate and confident.

This is the kind of place you want to return to because you feel like there are more great dishes to try. We can't wait for the opportunity.

“LOVE this new restaurant in Yountvile!”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

It must be incredibly difficult to open a new restaurant in the food capital of the USA - Yountville, but Frank Altamura has done it! Even more difficult to make a big splash with incredible food at low prices, without being overly complicated and stuffy.

I love the look of this place, like a little comfortable, fun and lively trattoria decorated with Italian movie posters and memorabilia. But even more important the food is killer. We started with a simple, satisfying plate of spaghetti in garlic and an amazing, huge, hot bowl of bean and kale soup. Before the main courses, the three of us shared one of the best pizzas I believe I've ever had, a wild mushroom and taleggio creation that was fresh and gooey with blistered flavorful crust. For our mains, I absolutely went crazy over the special of just caught garlic roasted Dungeness crab with Calabrian peppers. Incredible!

Loved the feel of this place, so homey and comfortable and very convenient. Frank is a great host and its fun to watch him working with his kids. We can't wait to go back, as we hear the breakfast is amazing as well!
