“Very Good French Bistro”
Reviewed February 5, 2013 via mobile

Four of us visited the Bistro on a Friday night, and we had a great time. The atmosphere and service were terrific. The food was very good, but not outstanding. The competition in this region is stiff, and I don't think they made the jump to the premiere league.

“Always a good time”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

This is not the place to go to have a lighter meal. Almost everything has lots of butter &/or cream. But it sure is good! Request a table in the back room. Much better atmosphere! The service can sometimes feel rushed and the crowd tends to skew a bit older, but we still try to eat here once a year. Why? Because of the tomato soup with the puff pastry! It is big enough to share and is seriously fantastic. Warm apple tart with vanilla ice cream is pretty darn good too. Entrees are good but not great. Place is very popular so a reservation is recommended.

“Mealy, fatty paté, slow service”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

My wife remembered the tomato soup here fondly, and that part didn't disappoint. The country style paté was too rough, and had an off putting flavor and aroma, almost as if there was uncooked organ meat in it. French Onion Soup was extremely cheesy, and the broth had a strange off flavor. This one was a miss.

“Oui really, really loved it!”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

You know you are probably in the right place when a group of Frenchman come in to dine! First, let me say we were very hesitant to come here as we have a fantastic bistro at home, run by a fabulous chef (Food & Wine's Top New Chef, 2008, always on the short list for James Beard every year) and we were sure the food would not live up to our hometown favorite. Well...

Food was amazing, sorry to say better than hometown favorite. Great French comfort food, best beef bourgogne I have ever had, better than any other restaurant, better than my husband's homemade...(sorry, honey!) Hubs had coq au vin and raved, especially when waitress suggested buttery noodles as an add on for him. Yes, please. And great bread and butter!

One small downside, I am hard of hearing and my husband is not much better when restaurants are loud. Waitress came by and said something that sounded like something du jour. She kept saying it over and over, couldn't understand her. She finally pointed to our bottle of wine we brought in, a Cab Franc from PeJu. Oh... Perhaps she could have just said "wine" after the first few times and we would have understood. I said "I guess we have had too much wine today already" and she started to say something snotty but stopped herself. Good save! Service improved from there.

Fun, noisy, casual, perfect bistro atmosphere. Great food. Would definitely go again, would definitely recommend.
