“Amazing beyond expectation”
Reviewed January 21, 2014

We stayed here mid Jan...got a great deal, and cant wait to come back in APRIL!!! The front desk was awesome, our room was great. We were upstairs, so I cant comment on the floors creaking. We loved the fireplace, whirlpool tub in bathroom. Bed was the best I have slept in at a hotel. The brunch was perfect! Dream mimosa bar. Friendly and great omelet station. Great location, appreciate free parking. Awesome grounds, we loved the pool and hot tub area too. Already recommended to several people, and have been back in town for few days only :) Thanks so much and see you soon!!!

Room Tip: High floor quiet with huge balcony!

There are a lot to recommend Vintage Inn - the location, the décor and amenities, the nice landscaping, and the wonderful proximity to great restaurants.

I love that it's right across the street with Bouchon and French Laundry and only about 10 minutes walk (leisurely) to Ad Hoc. It's a great way to enjoy your food and drinks and not having to worry about drinking and driving. It is also possible to do without a car there as there are many wineries in town within walking distance, a bike trail near the highway and there's a bus stop that seem to run once an hour that makes stops along nap, St. Helena and such.

The amenities were great - Equator coffee and Nespresso in room, a giant Jacuzzi, a very nice patio and window seating area.

The minuses that prevents this place from getting 5 stars:

- creaky floor from above (agree with the rest of the reviewers - bring ear plugs!)

- old cheap planation shutter that won't quite close. Bring eye shades

- much ado about the breakfast. The pastries and champagne were decent but the waffles were so-so, fried chicken was nasty (tasted like curry in the batter) and the omelet was ho hum. Actually the omelet we got at Hyatt House San Jose (from the previous night's stay) was much better

- much ado about the afternoon tea. The sandwiches and puffs we tried were stale. The cookies seemed a safer choice

- service besides the front desk was lukewarm. The lady manning the waffles clearly didn't want to be there and looked bored - barely answered our question about the chicken, and the man in front of the omelet station cooked the omelet and didn't even let us know that it's ready - he just put the plate in front of his counter (by contrast at Hyatt House they bought the omelet to us). Can never seem to find the concierge in.

- access to Villagio spa not very useful. The spa area is pretty small, at least the 'free' part that comes with the stay

- access to the gym - have never seen equipment so old. Guess not many come to Napa to hit the gym but I have to compensate for all the food and wine...

- fire log is beautiful to look at but provided not much heat as the glass door is to remain close so set your expectation accordingly

Fortunately we got a deal for this place (even so it's about 40% more expensive than if we stayed outside Napa), and with the price it was worth it. I can see why reviewers who paid lots would be unhappy - as most of the cost is really going towards location, location, location and the rest with the bells and whistles.

Room Tip: Upstairs or the villas ($$$$$)

From the pleasant, efficient check in to the sad departure everything was wonderful. The rooms are well maintained and spotlessly clean. The Jacuzzi was one of the best I've ever been in - I could have slept in it. But why - the beds were extra comfortable and inviting. Breakfast, afternoon tea and sweets were all ample and delicious. A great choice if you want to visit the wonderful restaurants of Yountville - an easy walk to them all.

Even though our flight was late, our rental car location(Payless Car Rental) was terrible and a very long two and a half drive time from San francisco, we experienced a fantastic location named "The Vintage Inn' and WILL go back. Due to the traffic on Christmas eve, we arrived late for our restaurant reservation. But, James at the front desk said not to worry. He said we could either get room service or he could get us into a nice restaurant. Now, that's working for a couple of road tired people.

We decided to have room service and traveled to our room(508). What a beautiful sight. The rooms are very big and so are the bathrooms. The fireplace is an added touch. The food arrived in a fast fashion and the kobe burgers were great.

The next surprise was the breakfast on Christmas day. It was out of this world. Must say that it was the best buffet and is part of your room rate. Then on to the afternoon with a snack around
3:00 P.M. that is just right especially with late dinner reservations.

Nearby restaurants are within walking distance, but suggest getting reservations in advance. Winerys are in close driving distance from this hotel.

The weather was a bit cold, but the days were pleasurable. This i'm told makes the wine really good.

Now, to the only negative if you can call it that way. Suggest you get a room on the second floor if you don't want people walking on your head.

Finally,we were so impressed with the professional and friendly staff, the landscaping, the heated pool, the fabulous food that we GOTTA GO BACK.

If you go say "hi" also to Louie, George, and Maya----They are the resident cats.

Just spent four days at the Inn while visiting wineries in Napa. Yountville is a charming spot, and the Inn was most welcoming. I forgot my iPhone charger when I left and they sent it to me without my even asking. Great service!

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the middle of the complex - away from the street and the parking lot.

We have stayed at the Vintage Inn on three occasions and it is by far our favorite. We love wine country and this hotel has become our home away from home. The rooms are beautifully decorated in french country decor, but not out dated and fussy, just high-end and classic. They are open and airy, with gorgeous bathrooms and amazingly comfortable beds. You feel pampered by just walking in. If you get a room on the top floor in the back of the hotel, you have beautiful vineyard vistas to gaze at while having coffee on your balcony. Although others have mentioned traffic noise, I do not recall that ever being a problem. We have had a room with a fireplace each time, although we didn't use it because we were there in the summer. There is always a bottle of wine in the room when you arrive. As if that is not enough, there is an amazing complimentary champagne breakfast buffet with omelette and waffle stations, in the lobby each morning. THE best way to start your day of exploring wine country! The hotel personnel have been nothing but gracious and helpful at every occasion. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with flowers, fountains (quiet), and some small art pieces. The hotel is centrally located to a lot of the restaurants and shops in Yountville. Right next door to the hotel, there is the V Marketplace, filled with many cute shops, Michael Chiarello's Bottega restaurant, and the Vintage Inn's wedding venue. It is in a 138 year old winery building with tons of charm. Although the hotel is pricey, if you are willing to splurge, it is SO worth it! Highly recommend!!!!

NOTE: We recently (New Year's Eve weekend 2013) were not able to get a reservation here due to last minute planning, but we were able to get a room at their sister property The Villagio Inn & Spa (right down the road from the Vintage Inn). Due to sickness (ugh!), we had to cancel that reservation, but the Villagio allowed us to keep our deposit as a credit to be used in the future (6 mos.), despite their usual policy is that we would lose our deposit. Ms. Sanchez was very accommodating and it was so appreciated because we will definitely be back. Look for my "official review" of the Villagio Inn to come.
