Stayed here on a few occasions. Calling for reservations is quite easy. We were arriving late as we've done in the past. The Inn made arrangements to pick up key at next door gym. No issues. There are a handful of railcars. Unique and fun to see. The rooms are rather spacious. Clean. Well priced. No frills. Great, great location for Yountville! Coffee caboose on premise. Walk to plenty shopping and restaurants. Definitely worth a stay.

Room Tip: Great location. Railcars are parallel to each-other. We've always stayed on side facing Washingt...

The entire town of Yountville is quiet, and the Railway Inn is no different. It is attached to a cute little coffee place (next to room 3), so if you want it to be REALLLLLLY quiet I would suggest asking for another room. This seemed to be the most affordable hotel in Yountville (we paid $160 for the night). Yountville is very small so you can walk to anything from this central hotel. The furnishings inside the room are decent. Nice big bed and plenty of light from the windows. Although we kept the curtains closed most of the time for more privacy (we stayed in the room right next to the coffee shop).

Room Tip: Request a middle room further from the coffee shop.

This place is great value - and walking distance to lots of places to eat and drink and make merry. The rooms are nicely furnished, if a little chintzy for our taste, but very comfortable, and we were grateful for the golf umbrellas in the rooms as it poured with rain when we arrived. For breakfast, it's almost opposite the delicious Bouchon Bakery, and there's also a coffee caboose at the end of the row of carriages.

We were here in November and the rooms were fairly cold. The heater heats up the middle part of the rail car but on the ends where the bed and the bathroom are stay pretty cold. This is definately no frills but has a great location and is pretty decent overall

This was our second stay at the Railway Inn. It's a no-frills inn right in the heart of Yountville. The rooms are large and the bathrooms are pretty spacious as well. If you're looking for a resort with amenities abound, this is not the place for you. But if you'd rather spend your money on wine and the amazing food in Yountville and just need a place to rest your head at the end of a long day of wine tasting, this is definitely the place for you. The beds are not the most comfortable, but they get the job done. The location (and the price) is the main seller. Coffee caboose is right at the end of the hall, and some of the best restaurants in the country are steps away!

Room Tip: For a better view, ask for a room facing away from the parking lot.

It is difficult to find a moderately priced hotel in the Napa region but Napa Valley Railway Inn provides simple amenities in a quiet atmosphere at a reasonable price for the area. The location is perfect for exploring the town and heading out to the vineyards. Parking was easy. Room was clean and comfortable - but certainly not fancy. No fancy fountains here - just a decent room with good, quiet location.

I was planning a trip to Napa for the first time and really wanted to stay an Yountville. I was having a hard time finding something that wasn't ridiculously overpriced especially since we weren't going to be spending much time in the room at all. Just so happened to see a segment on The Today Show about this place and was able to reserve the room.
The rooms are actually converted railway cars...there isn't much to say about the rooms themselves, very, very basic. But the location could not be any better! Right across the street from the Bouchon Bakery, right next to Michael Chiarello's Bottega Restaurant. Smack down in the middle of downtown Yountville and perfect to walk to tons of shops, restaurants, etc.
I would absolutely stay here not because the place itself is anything to write home about but because it's a great value (especially considering the area) and the location.
It's all about location after all, right?
