Villagio Inn and Spa
Ranked #5 of 6 Hotels in Yountville
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed December 13, 2013

We stayed here for 5 nights over Thanksgiving. Being located in the middle of Yountville is a big plus for this hotel. Yountville is a nice little town and having checked out all the other towns, Yountville is the best place to stay, esp if you are a foodie.

Like what most reviews mentioned, the best thing about this place is the breakfast that comes with the room stay. Food was every good and enjoyed our breakfast on the lovely veranda every morning.

We were given a room facing the carpark and next to the busy highway. If you are a light sleeper, the noise coming from the highway will be an issue. Luckily, we had enough wine in us that this did not bother us too much. Overall, the room was spacious but a bit tired. Landscaping in the hotel beautiful and created a very relaxing ambience. Spa was excellent and it was great that guests could use spa facilities at no extra charge.

After we checked out and was on the plane, we realized that we might have left our iPad in the room. I called the hotel immediately and was told that I should speak with the housekeeping department. Finally managed to speak with housekeeping and confirmed that they had indeed found our iPad in the room. Was asked to provide our address over the phone while the plane was taking off in a few seconds. I thought service could be improved here. Firstly, having found items left behind by guests, no effort was made to reach us. Second, I should not have to provide my details to housekeeping. As a guest, the hotel should have my information. If I had not called the hotel, I wonder if they would take the initiative to return my iPad?

Room Tip: Be sure to request for a room that is not facing the highway and that the patin/balcony is not facin...

Stayed in low season (December). I really liked this hotel and recommend it highly for the price. Highlights:

+ CHeckin drink- we had champagne, our friends got amazing hot chocolate. The bar is right by the front desk and it is a really fun atmosphere. The staff is really friendly. Nice touch.
+ Lounge Area. Kind of basic but we hung out there at night after dinner at French laundry. The bartender served us and brought us free bottled water, made great drinks, was friendly but not cloying, etc. They have very good, 4Seasons type service culture here.
+ Breakfast. Free buffet breakfast, nothing lavish but they have omelets made to order, oatmeal, fruit, pastries, etc. The pastries could have been better frankly. Bouchon is down the street.
+ Room. We were upgraded to a suite which was massive, somewhat dark but with a comfy bed, huge bathtub, fireplace, and sitting area. L'Occitane amenities. Very nice all around.

I've stayed at a bunch of Napa hotels, and for the price this was as good as any, and very convenient for the amazing restaurants in walking distance. I'm not sure if the hotel service is always this good or if I'd like the room if we didn't get upgraded, but for low season I ws very pleased with Villagio.

Luxurious setting among the Napa Valley vineyards, you will enjoy stunning rooms on the top level, delicious buffet breakfast, a rest by the large pool, and afternoon tea time.
A weekend feels like a week.

Room Tip: Go for the upstairs rooms with octagonal ceiling.

This was our first stay at the Villagio. It is a great choice to stay while in Yountville. It's close to everything and has a great atmosphere. Breakfast is included and is fabulous. You won't be sorry.

This was our second trip to Napa and our second stay at the Villagio. The spa is amazing, the service is second to none - Mary the concierge is the best in the business and the breakfast will be the last thing you think of every night! Weekends are busy, but not overly crowded. Perfect location in Yountville as well. Scott at the Spa is extremely accommodating. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hotel.

My Gal Pal and I live in the SF Bay Area and plan at least one Girls Spa weekend getaway a year. We have gone to Carneros/Napa/Sonoma etc. for the last few years. This was our first trip to Yountville for the weekend.
We arrived on Saturday had a nice lunch at one of the local restaurants and headed over to the Inn for our first Spa treatment. We were able to check in early and, even though it was November, threw on our suits and headed to the pool. Very nice pool area and super quiet (we were the only ones there). We grabbed a cocktail from the Bar inside the lobby and lounged for a bit before heading over to the Spa. A seasonal body scrub was the treatment and it was great. Huge room for the treatment!
After the Spa we hung out at the pool until sunset. Headed back to our very spacious rooms, with comfy beds and got ready for our evening while enjoying the in room fire. We went to the lobby for a wine tasting event, which was great, and went out to dinner.
Sunday morning took advantage of the included breakfast. This is more like a brunch, everything from made for you omelets to chicken and waffles. I've seen some complaints about the per night costs but a similar breakfast anywhere else in town is going to run you at least $50 each, more if you enjoy the Champagne!
We did the tour of the shops in town and returned for our second Spa treatment - Hot Stone Massage. This was heavenly. The Spa is very comfortable and spacious and available to guests even if they are not having treatments.
So, if you are in the mood to pamper yourself with a nice weekend getaway I would highly recommend the Villagio Inn and Spa.
Enjoy!

This is my second review of Villagio, following our second stay. We liked this property our first time and looked forward to making our two-night stay from the prior year a tradition. The reviews below about the high prices are prompting this update. When I went to book our return, I was blown away to see that the rate for the identical room type for the identical days (midweek, before high summer season) had nearly doubled over the prior year for no apparent reason--the property hadn't been renovated, there were no events scheduled in the area, inflation was close to zero. No way were we paying double for the same thing--we considered other properties at various price points, including the rate Villagio was listing, or not going at all. Finally, I checked the web site one last time, and there was last year's rate. This was not a last-minute drop. We returned to Villagio and had another very nice stay. But welcome to dynamic hotel pricing.

Obviously hotels have concluded they're making more money with this strategy, but I wonder how many bookings they're losing entirely because potential guests either are balking at rates that don't represent the competitive value of the accommodations or because we have better things to do than repeatedly check in for rate changes before making a reservation.

Apart from the hassle factor with room rates, Villagio remains a very nice option for a stay in the Napa Valley. In particular, the spa is lovely and the champagne breakfast very good (although it would be convenient if it didn't stop at 10AM).
