Description: Chef Michael Chiarello has returned to his culinary roots by creating seasonal farm-to-table Italian cuisine reflecting the bold flavors of Chiarello’s heritage in his signature style 1st made famous at Tra Vigne in the 90’s. An award winning chef/vintner & Food Network host, Chiarello celebrates his Italian roots and the Napa Valley with a menu echoing his long practice of using the finest locally/sustainably produced food. Located in Yountville, in the heart of the Napa Valley, Bottega’s extensive wine list represents hard-to-find favorites of the Valley and interesting Italian selections. Chiarello restored the integrity of an old 1800’s estate by uncovering beautiful hard wood floors, timber beams, old brick walls and windows. The inviting dining room is accented with reclaimed antiques, warm fabrics and eclectic light fixtures lending to the restaurant’s old world comfort.

EXCELLENT food and I was provided many gluten free alternatives to the dishes that were being served that I couldn't eat. Thank you! You really made my experience there exceptional.

This restaurant serves no apples, squid, prawns, spinach, rice flour, chips or potatoes. Only Sierra Beauty apples, Monterey Calamari (the original Italian calamari, Loligo vulgaris, is not good enough?), Gulf prawns (which gulf? Mexico? Campeche? Carpentaria?), Savoy Spinach, Arborio rice flour, Sunsoak chips, and Ruby Crescent potatoes — unless of course they're Yukon Gold potatoes, and we all know when they're Yukon Gold...). Getting the picture?
I found this style of description pretty irritating and pretentious. And frankly I didn't find the menu, despite its verbosity, very interesting. However I finally chose calamari as as a starter and pork-something-or-other as a main ($34). I liked the starter but the pork was greasy and fatty and heavily overdone with something sweet. After an uncomfortable drive home, I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening on the toilet, so I have little reason to give this place a great review.

This restaurant has it all, great food, service and ambience and reasonable prices. It is not your traditional Italian place, but offers a very comprehensive menu and wine. You could tell the produce was very fresh and had been thoughtfully prepared. My husband had a duck dish for his main and he couldn't stop raving about it. After one taste, I understood.

Expectations were high and it was a lovely dinner shared with friends. The chicken was the outstanding dish of the evening.
