Description: Chef Michael Chiarello has returned to his culinary roots by creating seasonal farm-to-table Italian cuisine reflecting the bold flavors of Chiarello’s heritage in his signature style 1st made famous at Tra Vigne in the 90’s. An award winning chef/vintner & Food Network host, Chiarello celebrates his Italian roots and the Napa Valley with a menu echoing his long practice of using the finest locally/sustainably produced food. Located in Yountville, in the heart of the Napa Valley, Bottega’s extensive wine list represents hard-to-find favorites of the Valley and interesting Italian selections. Chiarello restored the integrity of an old 1800’s estate by uncovering beautiful hard wood floors, timber beams, old brick walls and windows. The inviting dining room is accented with reclaimed antiques, warm fabrics and eclectic light fixtures lending to the restaurant’s old world comfort.

This much lauded Yountville institution came through on most fronts. The décor is somewhere between casual and sophisticated, but the restaurant is inviting, although the volume inside was too loud for a relaxed meal. The wine selection was extensive and of reasonable price. The cuisine was delectable. The service was solid; the host was gracious but the server was sorely. Appetizers were true highlights including the burrata and tomatoes, the pasta frita (fried dough with prosciutto, figs and crème fraiche), as well as the polenta with mushrooms under glass. Entrees were good too, including pasta, especially the house version of carbonara as well as the short rib. The desserts were incredible; try the fried dough with jam and crème, the peach hazelnut tart, and the tiramisu. This is a wonderful restaurant. Nearly every dish is packed with flavor without leaving the patron bloated of overly full. The prices here are not cheap but are reasonable. A full out meal with wine will set you back around $100/person. The staff took the time to sign a birthday card for my younger brother, which was a nice touch. However, a complimentary dessert with a birthday candle would have been nice. Definitely book ahead when coming to visit Napa as you do not want to miss a meal here.

Nice dinner with good food. Service was spotty at best. Maybe an off night just before Christmas but given their reputation it was a disappointment

Had our first meal of the New Year here. Started with the fried calamari which was light and crispy. It was served with an "aioli nero" which was actually a little flavorless. Also had the Tuscan minestrone which was good. The entrees really shined. I had a risotto special which was made with black truffle butter and lobster meat - crazy good. We also had the ricotta gnocchi - so light and the pomodoro was just perfect. And the apple cider and pear tea sorbets to finish...perfect lunch!

Bottega was undoubtedly the best restaurant; food, service and ambiance included, in a week of fabulous dining in Napa. We arrived at 8 instead of 7:30 - my mistake, I had confused the times even though Bottega had confirmed our reservation a few days ahead. Still, we were seated by 8:10, at a great table, without any comment until we asked how long our table would be and the greeter mentioned our reservation was for 7:30. After ordering wine from a comprehensive and fair wine list, we were treated to 3 or 4 incredible antipasti dishes, complimentary, for keeping us waiting! We had a crispy calamari that was perfect, no chewy toughness or overwhelming coating, just tender and tasty and delicious shortrib meatballs and Burrata, among other appetizers.

The restaurant is spacious - you don't feel you are sitting on top of your neighbors - but not at all cavernous. Our server made us feel relaxed and special. The menu is excellent and prices reasonable, with12 or 14 Antipasti ($9 - $15), 10 Paste ($17 - $23) and 8 or 10 Secondi dishes ($23 - $34). There is a good, well rounded selection and variety, with seasonal fresh produce and creative sauces. For our main courses we had whole grilled fish and pasta dishes - all excellent.

We booked 2 months in advance as this was a special occasion and it was well worth the planning.
Do not miss Bottega, it was the highlight of our trip.

It's hard to write a review of Bottega without using a superlative in the title. We usually get to Napa every 1-2 years and this is the only restaurant we repeat regularly. The food is amazing. The atmosphere is high energy but still a bit reserved. The service is always great. This time, like every other, we had the gnocchi. It's always one of the choices we make. Saying it's like puffy pillows is actually an understatement This time we also had the Tagliarini Carbonara. The Carbonara was amazing.

We also tried the Carmelized Panetone for dessert. It was a cross between a bread pudding and French toast and was fantastic.
