This much lauded Yountville institution came through on most fronts. The décor is somewhere between casual and sophisticated, but the restaurant is inviting, although the volume inside was too loud for a relaxed meal. The wine selection was extensive and of reasonable price. The cuisine was delectable. The service was solid; the host was gracious but the server was sorely. Appetizers were true highlights including the burrata and tomatoes, the pasta frita (fried dough with prosciutto, figs and crème fraiche), as well as the polenta with mushrooms under glass. Entrees were good too, including pasta, especially the house version of carbonara as well as the short rib. The desserts were incredible; try the fried dough with jam and crème, the peach hazelnut tart, and the tiramisu. This is a wonderful restaurant. Nearly every dish is packed with flavor without leaving the patron bloated of overly full. The prices here are not cheap but are reasonable. A full out meal with wine will set you back around $100/person. The staff took the time to sign a birthday card for my younger brother, which was a nice touch. However, a complimentary dessert with a birthday candle would have been nice. Definitely book ahead when coming to visit Napa as you do not want to miss a meal here.
