“Fantastico!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2012

We stayed at the Napa Valley Lodge for a girl's trip and the accommodations could not have been nicer. The staff were above average and extremely helpful and the rooms were well appointed and clean. We were able to walk into town without issue, however, there is a public shuttle available for anyone not wishing to walk. The hotel is gorgeous with a nice pool and fire pit and a European style breakfast available in the mornings. There is construction going on across the street at present, but it wasn't really an issue. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a great place to stay in Yountville. Cheers!

We loved our stay at the lodge. Rooms were clean and spacious. We had a vineyard view and a fireplace. Breakfast each morning is delicious, plentiful, and served in an adorable room. Staff was helpful. Pool area is beautiful and staff there was attentive. Walking distance to all of the great restaurants. Turn-down service included very cute local cookies. Bed could have been more comfortable but bathroom was beautiful.

We stayed five nights in early September. We picked Yountville because it was centrally located and would be close to restaurants we wanted to try. The hotel is at the edge of town, not right in the middle and is a 10 - 15 minute walk to Bouchon and further to Redd. The rooms are large and the beds comfortable. Our room was on the second floor with vaulted ceilings and a balcony overlooking the courtyard firepit and swimming pool. It was quiet and private -- we did not hear any neighbors. The bathroom is large but the lighting at the dressing table could be brighter. I liked that you could take breakfast back to your room (trays were provided in the dining area). I go walking in the mornings and brought pastries and baquettes back from Bouchon Bakery to add to the fresh fruit, cheese, coffee, and juice offered in the hotel breakfast.
The staff is very friendly, helpful and welcoming. This is not the fanciest hotel in Yountville -- you can go much higher -- but for a base in the wine country, it's a good choice.

Room Tip: The second floor rooms have vaulted ceilings.

This is NOT a 2 minute walk to town, more a 10-15 minute walk, which is fine, but we drove as there is ample parking in town. For $400 a night (we stayed 3 nights) I would have expected a nicer place. Furniture is a bit run down and it looks like a fancy motel from the outside. There was no safe in the room, but we did have a nice view from our back room of the vineyard out back. Walls are thin and we could hear people stomping around above us. People came out back to look at the vineyard so there isn't as much privacy as you would think. We also heard the car noises from the room. The pool area is nice, the firepit gets turned off at 10 PM. Compare it to Villagio and Vintage Inn which are closer to town and for a bit more, much much nicer. and they both include full breakfasts. There are a few small bits to eat by the pool but no restaurant. The staff was very nice and helpful. There is a lot of construction near the front building.

Room Tip: Pick a room on the ground floor in the back building with a view of the vineyard.

Dear Jaunt,

Thank you for sharing your feedback on your recent stay. I am very sorry that we did not exceed your expectations.

Regarding the walk to town, and for the benefit of other potential guests reviewing this, according to Google Maps’ “walking” function the Lodge is located a 5 minute walk (0.2 miles) to the French Laundry Restaurant and a 9 minute walk (0.5 miles) to the Bouchon Bakery. While there is no real town center, I’d say that somewhere between these two would likely be it. Therefore we suggest it’s less than a ten minute walk to the town. That being said, some of the best tasting rooms in Yountville (Girard, Jessup Cellars, Maisonry) are located even closer to the Lodge and are well less than a five minute walk. The same is true for restaurants (Redd Wood, Ciccio and the new R+D Kitchen being built) and cafes (Kelly’s Provisions). By virtue of being in the north end of town, we are also the only hotel in Yountville that has vineyards and vineyard views, which it appears you enjoyed.

Thanks for your comment regarding the in-room safes. These have been ordered and are being installed later this fall after the harvest. In addition, we will be continuing with some additional room upgrades this winter.

Lastly, the construction near the front of the Lodge is for an exciting new restaurant called R+D Kitchen.

Warmest regards,

Tim

We stayed one night, but wish it had been longer. It was perfect.
Very clean, and comfortable the pool area was very welcome after a hot day walking round vineyards. Perfect location for a short walk before dinner about 20 minutes to all the world class restaurants, would particularly recommend Redd
We would go back.

I was a little nervous about this hotel because I had seen other reviews commenting that it was similar to a motel and right off "the noisy highway". I really wanted a nice experience for our family girls trip. I was wondering if I would have regrets not being in down town Napa. I have to say this place exceeded my expectations. The staff was incredibly nice and very attentive to all of our needs. This hotel is two story (about the only thing that would make it motel like) but the rooms are huge and the balcony was lovely. We were on the second floor. There is no elevator which could be a downside but we had at least 3 members of the hotel staff offer to carry our bags up. They do offer breakfast every morning which looked good. I liked the location of this hotel as it was close to some really great restaurants (Redd, Bottega, French Laundry, Bouchon) and was just a much quieter town than I had seen in Napa. We loved walking into Yountville for dinner. We all work in Manhattan so I didn't really want to be in the center of a busy place. We were there to relax. We did head over to Oxbow market in Napa one morning which was about a 10 minute drive. We were up the street from Mumm and I just felt that this hotel was very centrally located to everything. You were close to St. Helena too which I loved. It's nice to have the option of being close to both St. Helena and Napa since they're both cute towns. Hotel room was very clean and the view was lovely. Pool was a little small but I think probably average for the area. Nice that they had a jacuzzi also. We booked the package deal with the private driver which was expensive but we loved our driver and felt that it was worth it. Our hotel room was very quiet.

Room Tip: I would probably choose the 2nd floor again. You are further away from the pool which is always les...

Wonderful place to stay! Great breakfast included each morning, nice and relatively quiet. Very accomodating to your needs. Walk to world class eateries and shops.
Only thing I would recommend would be more lighting in the rooms. Bathroom especially for us ladies who need good lighting for makeup! Room in general was not well-lit, but with amount of time we spent in the room it wasn't a major issue.

Room Tip: Rooms around the pool are nice!
