We were on our way to stay in Mendocino. I knew I wanted to stop at a couple of wineries along the way and we had the fixin's for lunch. I think we stopped here because the sign intrigued us as we rounded the bend.
Talk about laid back, we were greeted by the tasting room manager (and jack-of-all-trades), Houston and joined shortly thereafter by the owner/winemaker, Tom Rodrigues. They were quite the combo talking about their wines being served that day and what was to come (a port and aged zinfandel combo for example).
We knew we were fortunate to have both Houston and Tom there. After he had left Houston admitted the owner rarely identifies himself as he goes about the business of managing the winery.
We walked out with a Chardonnay and a red blend to have with lunch. We sat at picnic tables next to the old truck and celebrated our good fortune in finding this place.
