Have eaten at The Village Pub many times, food very good...service at times a problem. On December 16, 2012 service was very disappointing. Took 15 minutes to hail down someone to take a cocktail order. Both cocktails arrived, almost brimming over the top, ready to spill. We had to have some of the drink put in an extra glass. Then we had to find our waiter to order, he never came to us first. Sorry that we were unable to hear or understand him as he told the specials. When we, again, had to look for the waiter to take a dessert order we commented about the slow service. Comment of the waiter, "your dessert menu was opened" so didn't think you were ready. My companion's dessert menu was closed at the time, only mine was open.

It is so disappointing that a restaurant of this caliber should fall down so badly by not training their staff 'how to treat a customer'.

Booked this place for a small Holiday Lunch as everything else in Palo Alto was booked. One would expect a restaurant on Woodside to be good, however this little place is not what one would expect. The most expensive dish on the menu was $21 which was totally unexpected and the food was absolutely exceptional, service amazing. What really impressed me about the service was that the staff did not rush us through, they seemed to have a sense about when to move things and when to not interrupt.

The Scallops were unexpected but incredible and everyone seemed to love the food and the menu has something for everyone.

Now the wine menu is something else to rave about, twenty five hundred bottles of wine adorn the menu and the only disappointment was that we were unable to procure a second bottle of wine of the variety we chose.

Generally I would say this place is exceptional.

The food and especially their service are fantastic - best in the Bay Area. The prices are pretty elevated. A hamburger and glass of wine for two was literally $80, so bring your corporate expense account.

What a great meal. Service was impecible. The cauliflower flan lobster appetizer was delicious. The Artic fish was fantastic. The venison was absolutely delightful. A couple across from us had the veal shank which looked incredible. The chocolate soufffle was only good. Our server provided insightful information regarding the wine list and helped us make an outstanding selection. Definitely first class.

My wife and I were in from Chicago visiting family and met at the Village Pub on Sunday, October 28th for dinner. First of all, I can not say enough about the service and the food. Our server was Melody and she was wonderful. She was exceptional and explained and described all of the menu items. We started with the pumpkin soup with ricotta and huckleberries. My wife is a fan of pumpkin soup and it was amazing. We tried a assortment of appetizers:
Warm cauliflower flan with poached lobster. Amazing
Monterey bay abalone with a slow poahed egg. The abalone was very tender and delicious.
Charcuterie assortment. A great assortment to share

For dinner I had the Braised Veal Shank. It's had for me to pass up any braised meat and of course i did not here. It was tender and full of flavors as well as the vegetables that came with the course. I tried some of the Boulandger potatoes and wished i had room to order a side dish of them.
For dessert the pastry chef brought out a assortment of pastries that were to die for. It was unexpeted and wonderful. Thank you again to the pastry chef.
As for Melody, her service was impeccable. Our wine glass and water was always full
and her recommendations were perfect. She was pleasant and extremely knowledgeable and made our evening a amazing experience.
This was not just a dinner but the highlight of our trip and dinner with our family that will always be remembered.
Thank you Village Pub
