I was looking for a good hiking trail and I ended up at this beautiful property. The gardens are as astonishing as the interiors. The little coffee shop is a great place for a lunch bite. Filoli is a great experience any time of the year. Check it out!

Having recently visited the Filoli mansion, it was fabulous to see the rooms decorated with holiday decorations and Christmas trees (in each room, a different color scheme and type of ornaments). It was near closing, so we had no chance to stroll through the gardens. That will be on our next visit.

We were driving from the city to Half Moon Bay for the weekend and being new to the bay area I had never heard about this place so decided to stop for a few hours. Wow, I am SO glad we stopped. It's truly a mansion of grand proportions and I cannot even living on this palatial scale. But what really impressed me are the grounds. It's acres and acres of incredible manicured beauty with unbelievable charm. We had lunch at the little cafe and then did a self guided house and grounds tour for a couple of hours. Although the house is quite interesting without a doubt (filled with lavish art and eccentricities) the grounds are peaceful and spectacular.Just don't bring food in the house, they will confiscate it, lol.

Built by the Bourn dynasty in the late 1800s, the estate is beautifully restored and open to the public. We visited the building first and were reminded of Downton Abbey. The English Garden is just phenomenal. I have never seen a garden arranged so well. You walk from one space to the next. Standing at certain points you see the length of the path, and step further you are in a different space. Plan for a entire day to stroll around in the garden. The cafe offers a variety of food. We loved the gift shop at this place, as it offers stuff for the kitchen, garden and living room. The Bourn family also built s similar but smaller place at the Empire Gold Mine in Grass Valley, north of Sacramento. There the garden is also beautiful, at Filoli it is much larger.

I had not been to Filoli in 20 years. It is a well run non-profit and has improved over the years. We did a self-guided house visit (only the downstairs) which was great. Lots of information on cards in each room. Amazing 1910's house. The gardens are a highlight. Always flowers in bloom and well marked. Take the 1 mile nature/history trail. You cross the San Andreas Fault, see horse barns and lots of oak and redwood trees and vistas. The movie in the visitor center has lots of historical information. A great visit.

The gardens are so lovely. Visited in mid-September with a friend who grew up and lives in the bay area. Even the drive from San Francisco was nice - once you get out the city. The gardens are impeccably maintained. The house itself is also interesting to see. Be sure to view the short video at the beginning of your visit.

We didnt expect Filoli to be as green and laden with fruit and veggies as it was since we were there in fall. But we had a wonderful time. The trees were full of apples, the estate was excellent with very helpful staff, the flowers, especially roses, were in full bloom.

We went with a 1 and a half year old and he enjoyed it a lot too.

Must see!

This beautifully maintained 100 year-old estate is well maintained both inside and out. The seasonal display of garden flowers is delightful.
