You simply cannot beat this location if you are going to Sonoma for a visit to wine country. The resort used to be easy to book and relatively unknown, but it has been discovered. It is a great resort, one of the better ones in the Worldmark family. The only downside is lack of soundproofing between walls and floors. I pity the person that gets a unit with kids overhead - you will hear every thump as they run to and fro as they have habit to do. The conversation from the next unit was clear as a bell through our bedroom wall. Those are nuisances that are common with Worldmark, and other than that, this location is really nice. The setting is quiet, even with the close proximity to highway 101. It is hard to get into if there are any special events going on in Healdsburg or the surrounding wineries - plan ahead and well in advance.
Nice staff, but at check-in you have to endure the stupid "parking pass" routine. We escaped the process and went straight to our room only to be called and offered a "special golden ticket" to wine country. The woman at the parking desk told me on the phone that Visa was putting on a special event. If I had a Visa card that had the word "signature" on the front, I was one of the "extremely lucky few." Lo and behold when I looked at my Visa card it did indeed say "signature" right below the Visa logo. She said Visa had a list of participating wineries that offer free tastings if your card had this inscription - all I had to do was come to the desk, ask for her, and get my "exclusive gift." I bit. Luckily when I went to the desk, she was busy telling another guest about their "exclusive gift." I asked the other young woman to please get me the list. I was given a poorly photocopied list that looked very old, but I took it and hoped for the best. One of our favorite wineries is Trentadue and it was on the list. We went to the winery and presented the list to the guy at the tasting counter. He glanced quickly at it and said to me, "this thing has not been in effect for over two years." "We have been asking them to remove our name from this list forever, but with no luck." So, my suspicions were correct, just another tactic to get you to come to the front desk so that they can try to get you to sign up for an "owners update." This is merely a two hour, high pressure sales presentation. If you are a glutton for punishment, then this is your mecca. I wish they would eliminate this frustrating ploy.

This is a nice place to stay. They have a game room, pool, jacuzzi, basketball court, shuffleboard, and more. The rooms are nice with a large balcony or patio, and everything you need for cooking or barbecuing. Although we didnt have a special needs room, it was good for my elderly father because they have elevators and easy access throughout. It is in a great location close to many wineries, cute little towns, River Rock Casino, the Russian River, and coastal beaches.

We were at WorldMark the last week of June 2013. In spite of over cast and rain for 3 of the days, we had a fabulous time. The rain did not affect our ability to do wine tastings. This resort is easily located off 101, and if you go up or down you find all these quaint boutique towns.

In addition to wine tasting, we found many nice brew pubs. We drove into Healdsburg the first day and ate at a wonderful french bakery, awesome quiche. Next day to Napa to tour the Castello di Amarosa winery, complete with a castle. We spent most of our time traveling up and down 101. The resort isn't too bad to San Francisco where we spent one day. It is a solid two hour drive. The resort staff had actually mapped out a couple of different day trips for us, and the tour of the redwood forest (after 4 wine tastings) was awesome, we ended up at a great seafood restaurant on the coast.

We did utilize the jacuzzi a couple of evenings that it didn't rain, and the pool on our last day there. The resort is clean, we had just a 1 bedroom, and we cooked in a couple of nights enjoying a bottle of wine from the region. Everything one needs to wind down after a day of traveling around the area. We would definitely go back.

This resort is located in a perfect centric stop. Near Healdsburg, Santa Rosa and Sonoma. Napa is not that far either. San Francisco is just an 1 1/2 hour drive. The units are big and the bed mattresses are awesome. Great place to spend a week. My only criticism being that the toilets are the small version and I am used to the most common elongated ones. But that criticism does not take many points away.

Loved the place and the so close by wineries

We have been to the Sonoma Valley many times, but had never taken advantage of the WorldMark in Windsor. That was a mistake. It is a large resort and is well located between Santa Rosa and Healdsburg. We were able to make it over to our favorite brunch place in St. Helena in under 45 minutes. We stayed in a large unit with two bedrooms. The twin bedroom had two small twins that were a bit firm for my taste, but we had two bathrooms and everything we needed to make a couple of dinners including a gas grill on our patio! Much better than a regular hotel! They have several pools throughout the complex. It is definitely a family place with occasionally screaming kids, not my kind of thing, but the kids were having a blast. Don't forget your swimming suit for the hot tub!

Room Tip: Maybe a unit away from the pools would have been more quiet.

We stayed at Worldmark Windsor last week and it was perfect for us. We were visiting my husband's son and his family, who live just 10 minutes away in Santa Rosa. Their house is very small and no room for guests without rearranging everything; so we did a timeshare exchange at WW and it worked out so well. We could go back and forth and be with them often, but we all had our own space.

Firstly, I have to say it is the cleanest resort we have ever been to - absolutely amazing. I swear they put in a new fridge, stove, dishwasher, washer and dryer every week!!! Even the barbeque on the balcony was spotless (how do they do that??!!). Great to have the BBQ, we used it 3 or four times. (There are also bbq's and tables dotted around the property). Our one bedroom unit was really spacious - huge, open plan living/dining room/kitchen, large bathroom, smallish bedroom (but perfectly adequate. There was masses of storage space and even a murphy bed tucked into the wall. We didn't use it, but when it opened, there was still lots of space. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed, even little packets of spices (but no salt and pepper, which was odd!). Dish soap, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, coffee filters coffee, tea, sugar, etc. all provided. Also nice fireplace and flat screen tvs in living room and bedroom. Also 2 dvd players and an ipod docking station. We actually liked the fact that nobody came to clean the unit on a daily basis. They had a "linen exchange" where you could get clean linens and all the other supplies you needed - a perfect arrangement.

Having said all that, it's a pity they don't update their furnishings and use lighter, brighter paint; really quite dated (although everything in good condition). Everything is brownish and they really need to do something with the lighting - it was very dark- almost impossible to see in the bedroom. However, the bathroom was super bright. If they did this updating, then it would be pretty much perfection. Also howcome no free wi fi??? It's not that expensive to buy ($14.95 for 10 days), but still............. (these are the reasons I didn't give it 5stars).

The grounds are also beautifully maintained, perfectly mowed lawns, clean pools, beautifully landscaped - the smell of the honeysuckle was magic and I have to admit I picked the rosemary for my bbq chicken marinades! We arrived Memorial Day weekend, so it was very busy until after Monday, but it never felt crowded, except at the main pool. However, we just kept on walking past Building 9 and there was a small, very quiet pool - maybe half a dozen other people and no screaming and splashing. They should just make it an "adults only" pool, although I doubt if many kids go there. Everything was much quieter after the weekend and we swam in and lazed around the main pool for a couple of hours at the end of each day. There were also a few hot tubs, a kids' pool and a small playground. Indoors there was a games room, spa and a small gift shop + lots of dvd rentals.

We had no problem at all with check in, although we didn't arrive till after 10pm Friday night. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The person who came to give us info about the presentation and nearby activities was very nice, but we were too tired to absorb anything as we had been travelling all day. We did, however, plan to go to the presentation breakfast because we had a couple of questions that she said would be answered there. Unless you are planning to buy at Worldmark DO NOT go to the presentation. We were very upfront with the sales rep about the fact we were not buying and just wanted our questions answered. Well, she had no patience with us, brought in the "next in line" person (all presentations follow the exact same procedure) who point blank asked us why we'd bothered to come!! When we told him we'd been advised this was the best place to get our questions answered, he was very aggessive; his frozen smile had disappeared by this time. We waited 10 mins for our gift for attending; it never arrived, so we left! Pity they're not a little more gracious. Never mind; not a deal breaker for us!

Other than that little hiccup, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at WW. Our family came over often, lots of space for the kids to play and enjoy the pool. Memorial Day they all came over + our in-laws and we BBQ'd. The dining table only seated 4, but as there were 8 of us, we brought in the balcony table and we didn't feel crowded.

The location is fabulous. A couple of minutes to the freeway, 5 minutes to Safeway, 10 mins to Santa Rosa. Also very well situated for Sonoma, Napa and Hwy1 and not much more than an hour from San Francisco.

We will definitely stay there again when we next visit our family and would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Rooms on the third floor and away from the pool are quieter.

We stayed for 4 days while visiting the valley for a wedding, some golf and friends. The location was convenient for all of our needs. There were plenty of stores, shops and restaurants within a freeway exit away. There is a golf course and grill that seemed very popular which is in walking distance (2 minutes LOL) and they even deliver.

PROS:

The living room was very spacious. There was a pull out bed in the wall and a flat screen TV. There was a fireplace for ambiance. The couch in the living was was pretty small and I would have liked it to have been more comfortable. We used the kitchen mainly for the fridge and microwave if needed, we did not do any cooking. There is also a stacked washer/dryer in the unit that came in handy. A/C unit worked amazing.

We stayed as far away from the pool as possible. We also stayed on the top floor. The room had black out curtains which my wife loved. Flat screen TV in the bedroom. Bathroom was nice and spacious.

Overall the unit was very clean. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Many people had commented on checking in. We checked in on a WEDS and it only took literally 4 or 5 minutes. They will offer timeshare stuff, but we told them we were not interested and that we would not be available for most of the stay. Translation: they called once and left a message, no big deal. The grounds are nice and clean. We felt safe the whole time.

CONS:

The king bed made the room feel cramped. The bedroom was located off the walkway and entrance of our unit, this means you can hear people leaving in the morning if they have luggage or if they are loud. It wasn't too bad.

Overall a great stay, and it helps that we had a wonderful time at all of our functions. I would definitely stay here again. There were only two of us so we had more room than we needed. Our friends were envious, they said next time they will inquire about our location.

Thanks for reading and have a blessed stay wherever you might go.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the main pool and elevators are much more quieter.
