“Enchanted Valley”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2012

This ranch lies in a picturesque valley near the top of Ridgewood Summit just off of U.S. 101. The scenery takes your breath away! You can tour the Seabiscuit ranch (make reservations) and there is an RV campground there as well. There are white deer, mule deer, wild turkeys, jack rabbits, and coyotes easily spotted from the roads.

“Great people and wonderful history”

The lovingly way they have kept the history of Seabiscuit alive is very special. The grounds are just beautiful and if possible take the time to look at the organic gardens.

“It's All About Seabiscuit!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2009

I have been to Ridgewood Ranch in Willits twice, the first time in 2007 and again this past June 2009. It's a wonderful working ranch and the ride down from the main road is like going into the 1950s. You drive over a cattle grate, narrow road leading to the ranch floor where the museum is and grounds for the walking tour. There are small houses off to the side where some of the ranch hands live.

It's a very rustic and quaint environment and I absolutely loved it. You watch a short film about Seabiscuit and then go on a guided tour of the old house where the Howard's lived and then a tour of the present day working ranch. You see where Seabiscuit lived the remaining years after racing. The old refurbished stable house and Seabiscuit's stall was most interesting; one could still feel Seabiscuit's presence. The groomer's small sleeping quarters within the stable house is decorated in 1940s furnishings. Very nice touch.

All in all a wonderful afternoon spent in memorial to a terrific racehorse!
