Amazing! I loved all the history and getting to understand a bit more about what my cousin and Uncle currently do and what my Grandpop and Great Grandfather did on a normal day ‘in the office’. The volunteers were so friendly and a wealth of information

Good evening Marawat! Thank you very much for the kind review. Our Museum volunteers appreciate the opportunity to meet visitors and explain some of the inner workings of the loco depot and railway history.

I visited the museum with my young nephews. The staff went out of their way to explain, include and show the kids the wonderful trains in the collection. The highlight for all was the ride on the train. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful day out

The place opens late and closes early and seems to only operate a few hours a week. The staff were surly and distinctly unfriendly. They treated my friends and son visiting from New Zealand very poorly, for no reason other than the staff wanted to leave early. Give this place a miss.

Hello ramAustralia2018. Firstly I will apologise on behalf of my colleagues for your experience and am disappointed that you felt that way about your recent(?) visit.

Our opening hours are well publicised and have been set at 10:00 opening and 16:00 closing for many years. However, we do run our last steam ride at 15:30. Unless the Museum was impacted by an abnormal event (fire or accident etc) there is no reason why the Museum would have closed early and we even have suggested to our visitors that they can stay after the official closing time to watch our rolling stock being put to bed!
Although a totally volunteer run organisation, we take great pride in our professionalism and approach in all aspects of the Museum's operation. This obviously includes our shop/café space, but also safety, restoration, maintenance, and train/tram crew. From time to time, for a variety of reasons (availability of volunteers for one), you may make contact with someone in a role that is new or unfamiliar. This is part of our training and development program, and we encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to be involved in that. As we do most of our own maintenance, cleaning, restoration and safety training, this has to be done when we are not open to the public. Therefore, we usually open twice a month (2nd & 4th Sundays) but have extended our activities with special events throughout the year (Fathers Day, Halloween, Santa etc) when we open on a Saturday and we also open mid-week for group visits.
We welcome comment and criticism from all visitors, and hope that we can use your feedback constructively. If you wish to expand on your comments or offer any other suggestion, please contact me via the Museum's website.

Lovely friendly staff, reasonably priced, very interesting if you’re into trains. There’s lots to see and experience. It’s a lovely way to spend an afternoon especially families with young children. The children we saw there had a ball!!

Hi there Jane! Thank you for the favorable review. Our volunteers always try to make children (of ALL ages!) feel welcome and work hard to make sure they have a great day out. We also try to tell the story of the impact of the loco depot on the whole community and the role of the railways in NSW history.

My dad is a train driver himself so he found this very fascinating & loved reading up on all of he history. Myself I didn’t enjoy is as much as he did but all the children their seemed to be having a ton of fun with the model trains and being able to climb into the old carriages. Friendly staff with lots of knowledge.

Hello Kerrie, thank you for your kind review. We are pleased that your father had a good time with us. Our volunteers try to make the Museum an inclusive place for those of all ages and interests to enjoy. There are many stories to be told about the people who worked at the loco depot and the contribution they made to the local community. We are always keen to hear how your experience with us could be improved and hope that you will have time to visit again and share some of your ideas.
