Well it is kind of a toss up! I grew up going to seafare with my Grand Parents and aunts and uncles, I always thought it had great fish, however the past few times I have eaten there with my family I have left thinking that it was just OK. They have good fried shrimp and good chowder

If you're white, over 60, and know not of where to get fresh seafood, this might be the place for you. Otherwise, stay away! Depressing... Poor service (unless you're a familiar wrinkled face)... Overpriced... Dry, rubbery clams... Disgusting, flat, eggy crab cakes... God-awful decor. Our waitress was rude and slow. Will never go back. Ever.

Older restaurant that has been in business for 50 years. Seems like it hasn't been redone in almost as long. with that said it had a home feel to it, most likely from the waitstaff. They knew the menu and were attentive and very personable.

I went with a group of 4. Two of the group had the "lite" salmon meal and were very happy with the taste and freshness. I had the fish and chips and felt as if it was average in general but below average for a Seafood restaurant. I am fairly certain the Fish in the Fish and Chips wasn't fresh. Breading wasn't what you would expect for a Fresh F&C. The last meal was the Halibat and it got a mixed review. Felt it was fresh fish but taste was only ok.

Meals came with Salad and choice of potato, fries and or rice. Sides all received positive reviews. I think I would go back but would not get the F&C.

If you are looking for a family owned restaurant that serves excellent fresh fish at a reasonable prices this is the place to go. Seafare is owned by two brothers who inherited the place from their parents a number of years ago. It is a Whittier institution. One does not go to Seafare for trendy atmosphere and/or trendy preparations. Seafood preparations are simple and fish can usually be ordered grilled, fried or sautéed. Most entrees are priced under $20.00 and are accompanied by rolls, soup (red or white chowder) or salad, and choice of potato (French fries or baked). They offer a variety of seafood salads including Shrimp, Crab or Mixed Louie’s which are available in two sizes – small or large. I have friends who claim the Red Trout is to die for. I on the other hand always end up ordering their fried calamari – the batter is light and fried very crisp. A limited number of wines are available and are not expensive. They do not take reservations

Good, plain, clean food. Nothing fancy, good prices. At lunch you get crackers, dinner you get bread. The clam chowder is really good (red, not white). Salad is also fresh and good. Choice of soup, salad or coleslaw (very small portion), your fish, rice, baked potato (only at dinner and no sour cream available) or french fries. Grilled or fried are the preparation choices. The seafood salads are excellent. Get the cheesecake for desert - it's very good. They also serve wine by the glass. Most of the clientle are older Whittier folks who count on Seafare for providing them with a healthy meal. They deliver.
