Tide Resort Pattaya

I stayed here with my boyfriend for 4 nights in Feb 2005. We choce this place as a place to unwind as it was out of the touristy parts of Thailand. The price was extremely good and the pool was the most amazing pool! I will try and attach some photos of it but the photos do not do the pool and resort justice! The resort was new so all the furnishings are modern. The staff are lovely and the breakfast was fantastic.

The only problem was that there were no taxis around, only bus type car things which stayed on direct routes so this made it sometimes hard to get around. Bangsean Beach had only thai people there and I think my boyfriend and I were the only caucasion people there but this was absolutely fine as we did the whole Tourist thing when we then stayed in the middle of Pattaya later on in thr trip.

If you do stay here, there is a little restaurant on the pavement about 100m down the road. It is called "Andy's Place". We spoke to Andy and it turns out he was actaully an Australian living in Bangsean Beach and this was now his business. Anyway - we ate there all 4 nights and we could buy;

1. Chilli Crab
2. Phad Thai
3. Salt & Pepper Squid
4. Garlic Prawns
5. Beef & Black bean sauce
6. Fried Rice

The most we paid for all of this was about $9 AUD! And it was some of the best food I have ever eaten! I think because Bangsean Beach is not much of a tourist spot, it is still very cheap. We also went jet-skiing across the road for $15 for the entire hour which is very cheap compared to places in downtown Pattaya.

So - overall I would rate this hotel as great but I think the best amount of time to stay here is 2-3 nights. (Unless you really want to relax in which case stay for as many nights as you like). I personally like to go out drinking and have a lot more action around me so this is why 4 nights for me was too long. I would definitely stay here though for 2 nights!!!

The Tide Resort hotel is in a small coastal town called Bangsaen, halfway between Bangkok and Pattaya. This hotel really is a hidden gem. My wife and I stayed here two nights and found the quality of service to be exceptional. The room was very spacious and clean and had tea/coffee making facilities and cable television. There is a beautiful swimming pool and also a gym for those fitness addicts. We were told Bangsaen was a holiday destination mainly for Thais and this seems to be the case. There were very few westerners in the hotel and walking around the town we encountered mainly Thai people. This added to the experience though as we felt we were seeing some real Thai life rather than what you would encounter in your typical tourist resort. From our hotel there are tuk tuks driving up and down the road at regular intervals and it is only 10 baht to get into town. The town centre is about a five minute drive away. There is quite a big market in the town, mainly food but you can pick up other bits and pieces and the prices are about half what you would pay in the usual tourist areas. I would highly recommend this hotel to singles, couples, families etc. For those especially planning a trip to Bangkok and Pattaya a stop off in between at the Tide Resort is highly recommended.
