Description: Specializing in fresh seafood and sushi, ONYX at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village offers delectable Asian fare. Backlit wall panels of semi-precious stones, such as carnelian and onyx, create a dramatic dining atmosphere. Bamboo floors, Japanese antiques and chandeliers grace the main dining room, while silk lanterns hanging over the sushi bar give an exotic feel. Watch while the freshest Japanese delicacies are being prepared, or sip a drink at the bar, where colourful aquatic creatures live in a double-sided, 2,000-gallon (7,571-litre) saltwater aquarium. A variety of sushi, sashimi and specialty hand rolls complement delectable Asian-influenced seafood creations. The menu offers many options to sample a variety of dishes, intended to be shared at the table. Also pairing well with Japanese cuisine is an extensive wine list featuring choices from California and around the world.

Food was very good. Excellent selection of sushi and seafood. Nice atmosphere. Service was a bit slow, but entirely acceptable as the place was very crowded.

This is THE place to eat Japanese food. Unique decor, interesting sitting arrangement, the food is deliciously prepared.

I always like the see-through kitchen to keep my eyes busy and watching the chiefs preparing my order. It is a interesting experience to eat at ONYX.

Can't believe the good reviews about the sushi. Had to ask for someone to take our order after sitting for 15 minutes. Hot saki was not, cold beer was not served cold and for such a high end hotel glass should have been out of a freezer. Spicy tuna was not spicy, flavor was really off. Hamachi was not fresh at all and the serving was very small. Either we hit it on a bad night or those who wrote the good reviews do not know anything about sushi. I will be letting the hotel know about our experience. Worst sushi I have ever had. First thing my wife said was "it smells like fish". At our favorite sushi bar that is in Westlake we always have several items off the menu. Here we left sushi on our plates, so bad we couldn't even finish it. And even though we were there during "happy hour" and the prices were less the bill came to $95. We have sushi at our favorite sushi bar at least once a month, have several items off the menu, hot saki, very cold beer served in a frozen glass, and hamachi that is so fresh it is like it was caught the same day with a generous portion of fish. The bill rarely comes close to $100. And believe me its not about the money, it is about the quality of the sushi. If you are looking for good sushi you won't find it here!

This gem is inside the Four Seasons Westlake Village Hotel. menu changes daily. sushi is first rate. Specials are creative. It's pricey but not outrageous. the menu changes daily and for non sushi lovers, there are Japanese and other asian dishes. the Pad Thai is excellent. Worth a trip if in the Westlake area. The outside seating is also very nice with views of the water features in the FourSseasons Hotel.

We often eat at Onyx when my husband stays at the Four Seasons, in which it's located, for business trips. They are a little more expensive than a normal nice sushi restaurant, but the quality of their fish is superb, and it's nice to just be able to walk downstairs to go out to dinner. The outdoor patio is great on a nice warm night, or sit at the sushi bar and the chef will always treat you right. No need to leave the hotel for dinner with a place like Onyx on site!
