Stopped in with a bunch of friends. No problem seating 10 of us without a reservation on a Sunday evening.

We had various tempura appetizers. Followed that up with a few beers. The Saba (nigiri style) with added jalapeno was awesome! We also had various hand and cut rolls. Again, I topped mine with jalapenos to give it a kick!

Now it was a little difficult to find this place tucked in this shopping plaza. From the freeway, exit Westlake Blvd south. Turn into the shopping center on the east side of the road just a few hundred feet from the freeway. Drive around to the back side...this place faces south. Plenty of parking.

Thank Kitman

Best sushi restaurant in the Conejo Valley. They have a large variety of sushis, including their special ones like the Tomodachi sushi. Always fresh and clean ,and they are true sushi masters behind the bar.

Had a great sushi dinner with colleagues. We were starved and ordered BBQ eel, tuna, salmon, crab, and a very tasty California roll (house specialty). A short walk from the Hyatt Regency

Long time iconic WLV sushi restaurant Kaminari closed recently, putting up for grabs many loyal fans, including this writer. This opens the door for other places, and so we found our way to Tomodachi recently on two different nights to see if we had found a replacement. Both nights this large and open sushi restaurant just didn't deliver.

It started with the temperature upon arrival. The air conditioning just wasn't up to the challenge. Yes, it can be hot out, but it wasn't comfortable upon entry and didn't improve despite our asking the waiter if there was a problem. Both nights the service seemed overwhelmed, scrambling, missing orders, forgetting drinks. It felt like a new restaurant just going through opening challenges.

The quality of the sushi is good, and it should be for the prices charged.

In the end we figured that Onyx is the new 'go to' replacement for Kaminari. We will give Tomodachi one more go, but the owners would be well served to pay attention to the opportunity to take their share of customers now looking for the next good sushi restaurant.
