“Good Fortune In "The Sunset Tower"!”
Reviewed July 31, 2012

We originally had been booked for a night at ChateaubMarmont, but when we arrived to check in we were told the guest in our suite was sick and they could not ask him to leave. C. Marmont instead had booked us into the Sunset Tower in one of their Premium Suites instead and also took care of the bill! We were a little upset, but once we arrived at the SunsetvTower we were thankful. A warm greeting awaited us and we were quickly made to feel welcome unlike at C. Marmont! We were booked into a comparable room in one of their Premium Suites on the 12th floor, rm. 1207 to be exact. A wonderful suite with a balcony to die for and a view to match. The living dining area was more than comfortable and the bedroom and bathroom were exquisite to say the least. The balcony was well furnished with comfortable seating and a nice table- a great place to have a bottle of champagne. The bathroom was well equipped with exceptional toiletries and oversize tub and separate glassed in shower. Candles along the mirrored tub wall was a nice touch. The bed was super comfortable. Nespresso machine for morning coffee. The breakfast in the restaurant ocerlooking the pool was awesome. Fruits, cereals, fresh yogurt, bagels, lox, and cream cheese were only the beginning and more awaited on the full breakfast menu. Everything was perfect and the staff was very attentive and helpful. We missed the C. Marmont, but quickly left all regrets behind after rising above the C. Marmont to the Sunset Towers. Why stay anywhere else when you can emerge yourself in such Hollywood history as in the SunsetvTowers! A truly wonderful experience! Thank you SunsetvTowers and thank you C. Marmont for botching our reservation and giving us a true Hollywood experience.

Room Tip: Premium Suites are wonderful and a very nice size plus the balcony on the 12th floor gives an incred...

Having never written a hotel review we were compelled to after our 'off the charts' stay at the Sunset Tower Hotel this summer. Fantastic hotel experience from the moment we arrived.
If you want to feel pampered and treated to exceptional service by the most professional and friendly staff this is the hotel for you. We have stayed in 5 star hotels and would consider this hotel among the very best. Rooms are fabulous and retain their original art deco charm while remaining updated and luxurious for the modern traveler. Incredible floor to ceiling windows in our rooms made them not only beautiful but made us hesitant to ever leave our room! This hotel feels very intimate and retains the glamor and vintage class of old time Hollywood. Our dinner on the terrace was the best we had our entire stay in LA bar none. Heaven to be sitting on their terrace with the exquisite city lights below- no need to ever leave this hotel. Pool staff are attentive and helpful and no one has an ounce of snobbiness whatsoever. Lots of beautiful LA types, however, everyone is treated like a star!
All the staff was remarkable for their warm and friendly attention, however, we give particular kudos to Derric, Regina, Jerrod, Elsie and Jeff for making our stay at the Sunset Towers memorable. How I wish the all hoteliers understood the total experience as this hotel does. We're already looking forward to our next visit here.

The hotel is in a nice historic art deco building, very beautiful and located in a very nice trendy area of town but a little enough away from the crazy traffic that it doesn't feel congested or crowded. When we first pulled in the valets were very prompt, friendly, courteous, professional, with a warm smile on their faces. That's an important first impression and they succeeded well. The front desk staff were more reserved, but no less professional and courteous. Rooms were modern, clean, and the bathroom was luxurious looking and feeling, spotless and clean. Bed was VERY comfortable, with beatiful views of LA outside the paned windows.

We didn't like our room due to the noise from the outside and the front desk was very accommating and placed us in a different room. They sent up a very friendly staff member to help move our bags. As we were leaving our room on the day of checkout the cleaning service man warmly greeted us as well. We didn't get to dine at the restaurant but quickly checked out the menu on our way out, still the server was friendly and answered all our questions. The concierge intuitively had our bags packed into the trunk of our car so when we came out from the restaurant, everything was ready for our departure. I would recommend this hotel to friends/family, hotel is well run, and staff are professional, courteous, intiuitive to your needs; they make you feel top notch/first class without any air of pretensiousness. Even if it's probably expected of employees, service never felt faked or forced. It was a great stay.

My first exceptional LA hotel experience! My favorite aspects: humongous bowls of every kind of berry at breakfast, dreamy view from my 6th floor room, great minibar and Kiehl's tolietries, beds are like sleeping in a cloud. Service is possibly the best I've experienced. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. Spa was wonderful - I love the hammam! Prices were reasonable for what one gets, and the free wifi is important to a business traveller! I actually liked this hotel so much that I am giving them advice here: please have larger water bottles in the gym, or switch to a tureen style decanter - we need to drink a lot more water than 1 cup, and those small bottles are cute but wasteful. Also, more and larger bottles of water in the minibar would be helpful as well. THANK YOU Sunset Tower Hotel!

Room Tip: higher floors might have better views

I just treated myself to three days and nights at the gorgeous Sunset Tower, where all I wanted to do was hide in comfort and wind down. I made the best possible choice. From communications with Tim Cunningham in the week prior to my arrival, to Tim's in-person charm and kindness, and the unpretentious geniality of all the staff I came into contact with, this was a blissful stay. I was already relaxed within 24 hours, helped in no small measure by a day at the pool, where everyone is very mellow and the iced tea plentiful! I was upgraded from a Superior Queen to a King; the room was a little small but the bed was incredibly float-away comfortable and the bathroom a perfect size. Drinks and dinner at the Tower Bar is highly recommended – you never know who you might see there – and the continental breakfast at The Terrace each morning is terrific - super fresh fruit, pastries and lashings of smoked salmon. The location in West Hollywood is brilliant for so many attractions, restaurants and shops, but I just wanted to cocoon myself for a few days and soak up the genteel atmosphere of a classic, elegant and intimate establishment. I was very sad to leave and Sunset Tower will definitely be my number one choice for a hotel in LA in the future. And I'll be back for the fantastic spa soon!

bravo!!! a privately owned hotel in the US delivers. important art deco architecture, thoughtful interior design, a power scene in the restaurant, superb dining inside and on the pool terrace, just wonderful. management knows what they're doing and are gracious and helpful. i suspect i'm not the first to rave, it's sold out constantly. if you're staying in west hollywood this IS THE place to stay, nothing else comes close at any price!

Room Tip: an upgrade to a suite with a terrace is worth a lot!!
