The food here was good, but nothing extraordinary. The portion sizes were fairly large and the prices were reasonable. The staff were very polite and helpful.

We were lured in by the M-F happy hour specials that lasted until 7:00 p.m. We arrived around 6:00 on a Friday and the restaurant was not that busy. A friendly hostess sat us at our table with menus and the wait began. We excitedly decided on our order and sat patiently for someone to take our order. After about 10 minutes a confused server arrived with a plate of food and asked if we had ordered it. We said no. It seemed kind of obvious as we still had menus and no drinks. Then he returned to ask if he could take the bottle of ketchup on our table. Still no acknowledgement from anyone. We observed two female servers chatting casually for quite a while. Thus, they did not appear to be swamped with customers. After 15 minutes, my husband politely told the two chatting servers that no one had come to take our order yet. No apology was given but he was told that another male server would be there. One of the chatting servers and the male server looked at our table and had a conversation. We thought at this point that one of them would come to our table but they both disappeared into the back. Now 20 minutes had passed and still no service. At this point we finally gave up and walked out. In hindsight, we should have asked for a manager but obviously management seemed to be completely absent.

"Adam" was friendly and helpful. The food, however, is bland industrial Tex Mex. No flavor, texture, freshness. Likely a great deal is frozen and microwaved. To top it off, the soundtrack is a loop of all of Sammy's solo stuff. I was told that they used to play other artists, but I'll bet that Sammy walked in during a Clapton song and felt uncomfortable as a result of the comparison going on in the minds of the customers.

We went during happy hour so the prices were very good. However, our drink order got lost and it took forever to get our drinks. The food was average.

I've tried to make sense out of our experience based on other reviews of this place. I have no doubt they can make good food. I liked the previous experience at had at another Cabo Wabo. But, this was a very mediocre experience. The waitress got the order wrong. Then the kitchen got one of the items the waitress got right messed up. We had to wait a long time for our order as well considering the restaurant was 3/4 empty. The kitchen mistake made one of the orders inedible (not unsafe but just inedible for that person), but it took so much lobbying to get the item stricken from the bill, we were beginning to wonder if anyone (waitress or supervisor) knew what they were doing. They were not nasty or unaccommodating so much as just bewildered by the task of striking an uneaten entrée from the bill. The rest of the food delivered was good fare. It was just a weird way to end a day of watching a parade of freaks up and down Hollywood Blvd. I'll go to another Cabo Wabo, but not this one.
