Stayed at the Mondrian in Los Angeles. When we pulled up a bunch of guys in white "painters" outfits approached the car to valet the car. I walked in to the hotel and it was beautiful. You could tell alot of celebrity people have stayed there. You are treated absolutely awesome. The room was nice overlooking the pool area.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

For years I have wanted to stay at this hotel. Finally it was a reunion with girls and I got stay there. We got there and the room was not ready until 5:30pm. The room had one phone which did not work and was missing a phone. We called for room service on cell phones! When we finally got in our room they gave us the keys and then at 3:00am called our room and said we had just checked in and the credit card was in a husband name and we could not use it. That does not go over well at 3:00 in the morning! THe sheets were ripped and it was not clean. What a DISAPPOINTMENT! No more Morgan hotels for me. Including the Shore Club in Miami. NEVER AGAIN.

My husband and I stayed here two nights. When we arrived around midnight on a Thursday night, the place was hoppin. We checked into our room, we had a studio suite on the 11th floor with a pool view. It was a nice view, the windows open a little bit for fresh air, which I appreciate. The room was a good size. It had a sofa and tv with a kitchenette. And a small table and 2 chairs. The bedroom had a tv and a small bathroom but with some counterspace. There were candles in each room, it was romantic. The bed was comfy with white linens and a down comforter. Now, here is the situation. Some may consider the rooms vintage. I say they are in need of a major renovation. The bath/shower is a tub with sliding glass doors. It is a bit strange, the toliet is old, the sink and faucet are dated. The carpet had several burn holes and the vents were dirty throughout the room. The lobby, bar and pool area are nice. The rooms need to be updated.
The location was central to Beverly Hills and the major freeways.
We went to dinner at Yamashiro and sat in the garden. It was beautiful and the food was good.
We also went to Wacky Waffles, which is a few blocks away from house of blues (next door). It was so delic, the best breakfast I have ever had. I highly recommened it. We sat outside for breakfast.
There was a line to get into the pool area on Friday night, the bar/club. This is the place to hang out. Hotel guest do not have to wait, Just show your room key and you are in. I don't know what all the fuss is about. An Amstel light cost $7.50, I could get a six pack for this price. Mixed drinks cost around $13 or so. They have candles everywhere and good music. There are beds and sitting areas all over. It was fun.
All in all, I would not stay at Mondrian again until they renovate.

Another designy hotel that forgot the traveler. Dark hallways and no comfortable chairs in the room.
When we checked in the Hyatt across Sunset was being struck by disgruntled employees and the noise was deafening. We asked for a top floor and got the usual 'we are full' answer. The noise finally stopped but only after I suggested to the manager that she call LAPD .. it's one thing to have a peaceful demonstration it's another to disrupt innocent bystanders.
If you like dazzling white you'll love this place. It's over the top expensive and take out a loan before visiting the bar or the restaurant.

Before the recent renovation The Mondrian always had a celebrity or two in sight, now the lobby rocks at night and the people watching of nubile young flesh can be great but you will need ear plugs but don't look for celebs.

Probably better off next door at the Grafton .. it's cleaned up seedy but less expensive, less noisy, slightly smaller rooms and every bit as good on service.

Stayed here recently. Discreet and minimalist hotel. Fantastic rooms all in white and pale grey. Most comfortable bed of our whole trip. Pool area can feel a little intimidating during the day, as it is full of the trendy and beautiful people of LA, but at night the area becomes a dimly lit part of the Skybar, with a great atmosphere. Suprisingly, drinks are not overly expensive. Guests have access to the bar, but access to outsiders is limited. Polite and attentive staff throughout. Only complaint is the high charges for anything you choose to use in your rooms e.g. a teabag ($3), milk pots etc... Room service is expensive with a 20% service charge and $3.50 tray charge. Good eating places to add variety, within 10 - 15 minutes walk.
Well worth spoiling yourself!!

The service was excellent as was the location. The lobby and the pool are truly beautiful, as is the restaurant which is quite good. We spent an entire day sitting by the pool and enjoying the sun; it really was a lovely way to catch our breath. These are the memories that make us want to return to the Mondrian... However, the rooms... really not so good. While the hotel really did bend over backwards to accomodate us, the rooms really need new everything... carpet, bathroom fixtures, lighting fixtures, etc... some spectacular views including of the pool area at night, but we spent as little time in the smoke-smelling room as possible... it had that sticky smoker humidity that makes you want to take a shower.

If you can take "modest" room, everything else is beautiful and very L.A.! I'm glad we stayed there, but this time when we go, we're going to try our luck elsewhere.

Stayed a couple of times in April - in a Junior Suite and a one bedroom suite.

Rooms were beautiful and comfortable with white furnishing accented by light greens. The bathrooms were however not great...the showers in both my rooms were dated and uncomfortable to use.

The pool area is great but crowded at weekends. Its not really where you go to relax - lots of non-guests come here to hang out and be seen. Music plays from the bar and there were quite a few children there - especially at weekends. Competition for the sunbeds was intense!

Service was great and professional - not rude at all. The food and beverage prices were however, extortionate even by London standards.

All in all - I had a pleasant experience and got to share an elevator with Brad Pitt.

Sure this place is pretentious - but so is LA.
