“Good service; horrible bed”
Reviewed March 20, 2013 via mobile

Greeted at desk by friendly and unpretentious clerk.

Deluxe suite was decent, although it seemed like a buzz are use of space. Huge useless room with a wetbar and desk.

Bathroom was nice, but missing seemingly easy upgrades. Tub was great, but could have jets.

Bathrobe had several hairs in them.

Bed was a HUGE disappointment. Not comfortable, no substance to them, and squeaky every time you move. Are these blow up beds?

Great service, decent rooms, needs better attention to details.

Even though it sounds like you had a few hiccups during your stay, I hope you where able to dine at Asia de Cuba where we have amazing sushi like our spicy lobster dish (my favorite) or even have a few drinks pool side at Skybar, where you have amazing views of the city. Next time you stay with us, we will make sure you have a few drinks on the house. Thanks for the response.

I stayed here with my son and his family. ( he is a travel agent) this was probably the most unusual hotel that I have stayed in. The room was amazing , and the service was great.
The biggest surprise was the pool area. During the day you can sunbathe & enjoy meals by the heated pool. ( Even in Winter, it is covered with a greenhouse material!) After dark, they transform it into one of the most hip nightspots in Hollywood. Although it was a family vacation & I didn't personally enjoy the SkyBar, it was fun to look for celebrities who were either staying at the hotel or enjoying other amenities.

Wild and Sexy is how I like to define our unusual but amazing hotel. What hotel have you ever been to that has a swing in the lobby (Hahaha)! Looks like you got to experience both part of Skybar. During the day, you are relaxing pool side enjoying a mojito and at night we turn Skybar to one of the hottest night lounge/club. It is always good to hear that your family enjoyed it as much as you did. Hope to see you over summer.

We loved our stay at the Mondrian, the room, service, restaurant, cocktail bar and whole vibe of the hotel was fantastic. Highly impressed and can't wait to come and stay again! Super comfy bed and great shower also!

As a repeat guest to the mondrian I was eager to see what chances are in place since the renovation of the pool and the lobby.

Let me start with the lobby, the relocation of the bar towards the entrance to asia de cuba and the pool area is a logical, well executed step. The pool area and the skybar is beautiful as ever, however I do not like the plastic covererin no at place all over the pool area. It feels caged in and strange to have a transparent roof on a sunny day above you. Hope, that this will be erazed or at least taken down or opened up during sunny days.

Check in was smooth as always. However had to smile - like always - when they ask me if I have been staying here before. No big deal but it shows clearliy that the hotel has no loyality tracking of guests.

The corner studio was fresh, bright and white as expected. A real uplifting feel with windows on two sides, two TVs and a larg shower with daylight and enough water pressure. Even though one side overlooked skybar - soundproofing with windows closed was extremly good (although you will hear a little of the bass). Free internet comes with booking on their mobile website and Skybar access is not a hurdle if you stay at the hotel.

Heating did not work when we arrived, but was solved promptly when we called the technician.

Valet, Concierge and bellhops were friendliy, however when we finally left the hotel my wife had to carry her suitcase alone out of the front door, passing thru a two side wall of bellhops (2 at each side) talking to each other- nobody offered help, funny or strange, you decide, at least not very considerate of the staff members.

Room Tip: Get a high floor overlooking skybar, corner studios offer extra windows and a two sided view.

Sounds like you enjoyed our newly renovated lobby and Skybar. I know our team worked really hard to keep the Mondrian flash but add a little extra for our guest. Like our new coffee bar, that brews amazing espresso in the morning. The covering should be down in early April, but it doesn’t affect our guest from getting some rays and getting that California tan. Hope to see you and your wife again for round two!

Great hotel in great location. Our room was like a small apartment and it was gorgeous! The staff were very friendly, pleasant and informative. Everything was spotless and we felt very special being there. The restaurant Asia de Cuba served excellent food in a great atmosphere with excellent staff. The breakfast in the garden overlooking Los Angeles was very enjoyable and memorable and a great start to the day. We felt very privileged to be here and can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Smile and be friendly, appreciative and polite.

Nothing like sitting in our newly renovated arbor, eating some amazing food at Asia de Cuba and enjoying the breath taking views of Hollywood. Glad you got to experience what Mondrian LA has to offer. Hope you have us pencil in for a return trip over the summer. :)

From the giant wooden doors at the entrance (complete with fans hoping to spot their favourite star) to the swing in reception, the giant plant pots and the best tv ever, this is a unique and extraordinary place standing out from the blandness of the average corporate greige hotel.

The Skybar must be visited at night, a great astmosphere and very chic although the vip 'rope on sticks' some people had in front of their tables made me laugh, still, I understand that a hotel of this calibre needs to cater to the whims and pretentions of certain guests. There is really no need for it though, the Skybar crowd are way too cool to faint at the sight of a famous movie star never mind a z lister, indeed you are likely to see some rather famous faces wandering about without being hassled and having a chuckle at those who rope themselves off!

I would recommend getting up early, grabbing your free coffee from the reception bar and enjoying a peaceful time lazing by the pool as you wake up.

The Mondrian is in the ideal location for everything, including great restaurants and nightlife.

The Mondrian staff are drop dead gorgeous, if this intimidates you it is your problem not theirs, every single staff member I encountered was delightful, exceptionally helpful and very down to earth. Special mention to the valet parking staff and the chap who took our luggage to our room, all absolutely charming, also the concierge who helped us with bus routes without batting an eye at our frugal choice of transportation.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked Sunset, yes there was some traffic noise but nothing unexpected given the locati...

Stayed in a 1 Bedroom Deluxe Suite for 4 nights with Family. Great hotel, clean, modern, very funky. Hotel is in a great location in West Hollywood.
Our room was extremely quiet, spacious and the monsoon shower was very refreshing after spending 8 nights in a hotel with no hot water. Really like how the mirrors had a TV behind them, very clever!
Don't have anything bad to say about this place, will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Go the 1BR suites, worth the extra amount!

The TV in the mirror just adds to our fantasy theme. Hopefully you where able to try out Asia de Cuba and Skybar while you were here.
