First, the positive: The valet parking guys are really friendly and service minded. So are the people working in the restaurant/by the pool. And the pool area is really nice, although somewhat small. And you can smoke there, which is a plus for us (but I guess not for everyone else. However - I think LA should take a chill pill on their attitude towards smoking. Outdoor smoking isn't that bothering. I know - I used to be a non smoker, and only smokes a few with alcohol). Fridge/minibar in hotel room is also a plus. And so is free internet for everyone.

Anyhow, over to the negative: The hotel does NOT live up to it expectations from the photos displayed on internet. The rooms are OLD, and the carpets aren't very inviting. The whole place really needs an upgrade. Our room was spacious, but we stayed in different hotels almost every night for three weeks all around California, and this one was really the most disappointing. They even lacked light bulbs in the room.

Another thing is that the valet parking is 30 dollars/night, and there is no option to park elsewhere. We're a bit annoyed that we weren't informed about this prior to our stay.

It seemed to us that the hotel cheated their way to their four star ranking, by adding services like robes etc, and of course the pool. The feel of the hotel is definitely not four stars.

The stay wasn't terrible in any way, but I think one could do better for the same price.

I came on business and wanted a place in West Hollywood that wasn't priced ridiculously. I was able to get a good rate on this hotel by bidding on Priceline. It's a pretty cute place, a 1960s apartment building in a residential neighborhood that has been redecorated along a provincial French theme. The rooms are a nice size. It's all a little thread worn, but nothing is falling apart. The bathroom and shower are great. The pool area is very lovely with nice views (but the pool isn't big enough to do laps). The piano in the lounge is a nice feature if you want to play (I did). Parking is expensive, and finding off street parking overnight is difficult, but if you're a city savvy person, it can be done. Internet was free. Neighborhood is quiet and conveniently located. Staff was solicitous. If you're a middle class type who likes Sheratons, I wouldn't say here, but if you like something offbeat, it's pretty decent and clean.

Le Petit was the biggest disappointment of our California Trip. We stayed in 8 different cities and hotels and this was one we were really expecting a lot from the website pictures. Don´t be fooled by that!!! I isn´t half as nice as it looks. We booked an executive suit with a balcony. The room we got had no balcony and was totally different from the one they show on the website as for executive suite. We complained and they said there was nothing they could do. As a matter of fact staff was not helpful in any way. A room accross from ours left a room service tray on the hall in one morning and at night the tray was still there. The furniture seemed old and everything was dark colored, the room itself lacked some light. The neighborhood surroundings of the hotel was a disappointment just as well, there is nothing worth walking to. We got our car everytime and went other places. We were there on a really sunny weekend and wanted to use the pool but weren´t able to because they were having a wedding party on a saturday so the GUESTS COULD NOT USE THE POOL AREA!!! The pool is not as it looks on the website either. My advice is dont stay in this hotel!

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your stay on our property. Petit Ermitage is dedicated to continually improving our customer service and the experience of each and every one of our guests. We are a bohemian chic property that is nestled on a quiet residential street in West Hollywood but also conveniently located just steps away from the infamous Sunset Strip – the ideal place to enjoy a live musical performance or indulge in a bit of the nightlife for which the Strip is famed. We very much value the input of our clientele and through this kind of dialogue believe we can continue to improve our guests experience on our property. Thank you for your comments and should your travels take you back to Los Angeles, we hope you to have the opportunity to serve you again.

We spent two nights at this hotel and found it just about perfect. Every good thing you read here is absolutely true -- the property is simply lovely and the staff embodies warm hospitality. An afternoon poolside with a book is about as good as an afternoon gets.

A couple of things I wish we'd known about are: when the hotel website says a room has a city view, they mean it literally. Most of the rooms have windows that directly face windows in an adjacent apartment building. In our first room, I pulled back the curtains and found myself face-to-face with a man looking out his apartment window 15 feet away. We asked for another room and were cheerfully and graciously given a couple of choices -- all of which looked into condo or apartment windows across the way. We chose a room facing the street as the balconies were a bit further away. As it was we were looking at a transformer on a power pole and lots of power lines. It wasn't awful, just unexpected.

Also, the honor bar in the room is a bargain compared to the prices at the rooftop bar. The honor bar listed a short split (enough for one glass) of sparkling wine for $9. At the roof top bar, a glass of sparkling wine was $15 -- which we didn't find out until we got the bill for three and it was almost $50. A Coke from the honor bar was $3.50. At the rooftop bar, a glass of Coke was $5.50 -- another fact we learned the hard way. It didn't occur to us that the hotel bar would be more expensive that the in-room honor bar -- there are no drink prices listed that we ever saw on any bar menu.

That being said, we would go back in a heartbeat and indeed are planning a return visit. We will just bring our own drinks next time.

We’re so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us! Thank you for commenting on our hospitable staff and the pleasure of sunbathing or reading by our salt water pool in our Private Rooftop Club. Petit Ermitage is nestled on a quiet residential street in West Hollywood that’s conveniently located just steps away from the infamous Sunset Strip. Inspired by the Mediterranean lifestyle and featuring fresh, international- though decidedly Californian- cuisine in our Club, our property is considered an intimate sanctuary in which to take refuge from the bustling city of Los Angeles. Thank you for staying with us and we very much look forward to welcoming you back!

What a beautiful hotel this is, the staff are more than helpful the rooms were beautifully appointed. Beds are great & the best pillows of our whole trip !!!
Stunning rooftop pool & outdoor relaxation/breakfast area, humming birds greeted me each morning over coffee. Stunning views over the Hollywood hills, at night this area is just magical. Lot's of lovely guests too, very friendly atmosphere not a bit intimidating staff make a fuss of you if your alone. Sun on the pool area from sunrise to sunset perfect for a relaxing day by the pool to top up your tan read a book or whatever. Room service a little pricey but hotel staff didn't seem to mind my bringing up my own wine to the pool. Outside areas have lot's of electric sockets for your laptop & free wireless connection included. Valet parking only as the hotel is located in a residential area so on street parking limited to resident permits, this also means the hotel is extremely quiet at night. Ideally located for bars and restaraounts on Santa Monica Blvd just a five minute walk away....truly wonderful I will definatley come back every year.
