we went on sunday 14th august and arrived before nine o'clock so it was free entry with two drink minimum.

it started with open mike, then comedy store friends and family and ended with pop ins.

we were there about 2 hours and saw quite a few comedians - some first timers, some more experienced and some pop ins.

a few of the comedians were very good, most ok and some were poor .

however the worst thing about the night was the host/compare (tony something?). he wasn't funny at all and he totally lost the connection with the crowd. he openly criticised up and coming comedians after their first set on stage and anyone popular he tried to ridicule.

he shouted at the crowd for talking only to realise that it was the director of talent talking at the back. he then told us what a terrible crowd we were for not laughing at his material.

he should realise that the hosts job is to warm up the crowd, support comedians and to keep the momentum going not ruin it.

a few comedians absolutely stormed it and had the audience howling and rocking in their seats so it obviously wasn't the crowd.

dreadful and a real shame because it spoilt the night!

I can't believe we wasted a limo ride and a trip to the city on this place. They are clearly living of their legacy. There is a time to to pull the curtain and close the show and I'm thinking that day is long since past. No class whatsoever. Wait staff could not remember orders even though they were typing it into a handheld computer, allways "forgot" to give change and it took 45 min to get a bottled beer after reminding them twice. The comedians were ok at best and downright mean spirited towrds the audience. Don't wast your time folks there is so much more to see in Hollywood than this dive.

The Sunset Strip is known for music, but The Comedy Store is a must-do stop if you want to complete experience. Unlike other comedy clubs, the night has a number of comedians doing short sets, so you can arrive and leave any time from 9 pm -2 am, you don't have to stay for the whole show (but you should). The drinks are expensive and there is a 2 drink minimum, but they're actually below average for LA comedy clubs and any of the bars on the Strip

A few tips - Parking is expensive, just like all over the strip. There are some municipal lots nearby that are cheaper or take a taxi.
You can get free entry any night of the week with coupons available on the Comedy Store Facebook page

We bought tickets to go and see 16 comics each doing 15minute sets.
We arrived quite early, and it was almost empty, but soon filled up. Pretty much all of the comics were excellent, and i was very pleased to see bigger names on the the list such as Bobby Lee, Iliza Shlesinger, and The Sklar brothers.
I'd highly recommend this to anyone visiting LA on a tuesday evening, the tickets were only $15, and although there was a 2 drink minimum, they were very reasonable as well!

I'll admit I did chuckle at a few lines but it was one of the worst evenings I've experienced in a long time. If you enjoy expensive parking, hard seating, weak drinks, and toilet humor then you will have fun.

Jokes referencing race and bodily functions is so "1986" and sad for a place that has so much rich history and so little to show for it.
