“Don't recommend during special events”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

We tried this restaurant during DineLA. It was a terrible experience. We started in the bar area with some drinks - this was great and service was fantastic, the hostess was also very good. Decor and style of the restaurant is really nice so the lead up to our meal was good. I had wanted to try this restaurant for a long time so I was excited to bring some friends here.

Once we were seated, it went from great to awful. We waited 30 minutes before our drinks order was taken so took the opportunity to order our food at the same time (it was a set menu so only 3 choices to select from and being DineLA we'd seen the menu in advance so we were ready). We had to wait a further 30 mins for our appetizer, but ok, this happens. The appetizer was a goats cheese tart and I literally had to make it stretch to make two mouthfulls of it! We then waited almost an hour for our entree, having asked where it was twice and to be told 'well it is DineLA we're busy', the restaurant was only half full and DineLA is planned in advance - they know it's coming and should prepare, not too mention that there are only 3 choices on the menu! And in my opinion even if it was busy that's not the correct response - no one should have to wait an hour. The staff were very rude and we ending up leaving before the entree ever arrived and going elsewhere.

From other reviews on here it seems the majority of people enjoy this restaurant - my recommendation would be not to go on special events or occassions as they don't seem to get good reviews at these times.

Loved the bar here. Food and drinks were superb. The architecture creates a fabulous atmosphere for a drink.

“Very formal, okay food”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

We went to the London for Dinner on Christmas eve. The staff were fairly rude, as we didn't have a booking. We waited for an hour, they forgot about us! But were then seated, the food was fine dining and was to be expected. Three course dinner was $95 USD which we thought was very expensive.

Nice for a splurge but probably wouldn't go back.

“Admirable West Hollywood restaurant experience”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

We had an enjoyable dinner at Gordon Ramsay at the London the night before the Golden Globes and felt we'd had a suitably Hollywood experience, with some studio types at neighbouring tables and plenty of interesting people eating there. The London hotel has a beautiful ambiance to its lobby and the restaurant decor is suitably lux. Tables are a little closer together than we liked and the wooden floor, while beautiful, creates a lot of ambient noise which makes conversation difficult.
Food was well presented and tasty and we found the portion sizes reasonable for what is promoted as small sharing plates. We ordered for ourselves: w2 plates each and then shared desserts, and were satisfied, but some of the menu items would have been difficult to share, as came as single pieces, such as inbone yellow collar fish. We felt it was good value for money given it is a signature restaurant in a high end hotel: and would recommend it as an LA experience.

Good service, excellent wine and fabulous food. A dining experience like no other. We had the Beef Wellington for main course & it was perfect. A truly wonderful evening.
