“Peaceful and majestic”
Reviewed July 2, 2014 via mobile

I visited Founder's Grove relatively early in the morning. I had practically the whole area to myself. Took a leisurely walk around the majestic redwoods. Very peaceful and calming. Watched some jays flying from branch to branch. Love this place. Definitely would recommend to friends and family.

Great, easy loop trail for adults and kids. This is a must visit area when you are exploring Avenue of the Giants

“A must see in the redwoods area!”

Pictures can not portray just how big these trees are...you must see them in person!!! Great info in the pamphlets available.

“Free Attraction”
Reviewed June 9, 2014

After being in the Redwoods for several hours, seeing the tallest trees may not be as thrilling. However, this is a free attraction within the Humboldt Redwood State Park.

“High payoff for the effort”
Reviewed June 3, 2014

My ratings are 3=meets expectations, 4=exceeds. I rarely grant 5 for "blown away". If you're driving US101 and have any slack in your schedule then you really must stop here. If you have a few hours of slack then you should do at least half of the Avenue of the Giants, probably the northern half.
Founders Grove is just a few minutes off 101, a nice little detour in itself. The walk around Founders Grove is a flat and easy half mile loop - good for an extended family of varied interests and physical abilities. There is an interpretive guidebook for a nominal donation, and sometimes docents available for questions. There are a few side trails to gain a bit more privacy. I've stopped here twice during summer and neither time was crowded.
