It's a very simple drive through a handful of quaint (read under 250 population) towns. Be sure to see the Eternal Tree (free) Founder's Tree (a .5 mile loop) ... and skip the $6 drive-thru tree in Myers Flat. (It's literally just one tree.)

There is a reason they call it Avenue of the Giants, nearly impossible to take a photo of a tree base to tip. Not only are they a treat to see but the smell is wonderful. Found a little shop along the avenue that sold all sort of neat crafts made from redwood.

The highlight of our 2 week vacation was 2 nights camping in Allbee Creek campsite in the State Park.

We saw black bears (safe distance), deer and turkeys and lots of blue jays. We had a wonderful time in the Redwoods.

Make a point of going on a Ranger led walk. Ranger John (I think his name was) did an evening walk around Rockerfeller loop which was so enlightening. He knew so much and was enthusiastic and eager to share.

An extremely fascinating experience. especially the morning we woke up camping amongst the Redwood with the sun trying to seep in through the tree crevices... beautiful!

Extremely friendly staff. We wanted to change our campsite, as there were too many people around the first one, so they helped us do that. The closest stores are at Weott - Ave of Giants and Miranda. Not many options, but not bad either. The drive between the Campground and Miranda is beautiful, and worth doing.

The drive though the state park forest is a must-see activity when in the area. It isn't just the road but there are many stops off to see more. One of these is the The Founder's tree and Dyerville giant. There is a short loop trail around these trees and what you'll see will amaze you. Parking is nearby and everything is easily accessible.
