Last Friday night around 9pm, my boyfriend and I made the spontaneous decision to head up north from the Bay Area to the Humbolt Redwoods for the weekend. We camped at Hidden Springs. The drive took about three hours, and around midnight we rolled into the last site available for two nights: spot 105.
It was perfect!
The spots here are super secluded so while you can hear your neighbors, you cannot see your neighbors. The trees are thick and you really do feel like you're all alone camping in the middle of a century old forest---too cool.
The bathrooms are also very nice and well maintained. A dollar will get you a ten minute HOT shower! I also never saw a bit of trash anywhere in the campground---the park volunteers really do a fantastic job here and we are sure to be back.More
