The location is excellent if you're to attend any event at either the Allphones Arena and the ANZ Stadium.
The staff are very helpful and welcoming. Keep up the good service provided for all.
This hotel is the old Formula 1 that was built for the Sydney 2000 Olympics. It is better that suburban Formula 1's as it was built for the international market, but it is still VERY basic. There is no phone, coffee/tea facilities, minibar or fridge in the room, or room service. But, there is bed, bathroom with shower and a TV. That's about it. In the lobby is a common area where breakfast can be purchased, and where there are free coffee/tee facilities, a communal fridge, and a frozen meal food vending machine and microwave. So, if you are on a holiday to enjoy your hotel too, or normally stay in a mid range hotel and need the extras, pick a different one. But if you just need it to recharge it is fine. Remember you can get a room for $90 which is cheap compared to $130+ for midrange hotels.
The best feature? The window block-out roller in my room was excellent and the room was almost totally dark.
I can't speak for all the rooms, but the carpet in my room was DISGUSTINGLY FILTHY. I'm not the sort of person to wear socks/slippers in hotel rooms, but for the first stay in hotel ever the carpet here made me cringe and wish I had a pair! I don't think it's been cleaned since this place was built. Management, if you are reading: stop being sloppy (or tight) and hire a steam cleaner and give it a freshen up!
About the location: Olympic Park is in the middle of nowhere (suburbs), and basically just a sports stadium, so you'd be staying here if you were going to an event there. There is not much else around, but this hotel is even more isolated then the other hotels. There is a burger shop and small convenience store next door, but for the restaurants/bars/cafes you have to walk about 800m to the next block, where a cluster of all the mid and upper class of hotels are (Novotel, Pullman, and a regular Ibis).
Apart from the carpet, this is a basic, budget, hotel. So it depends what you are looking for or comfortable with. It's better than a back-packers! i.e. the first step up where you get a private room and bathroom/shower.
I would have giving a 3 star average rating (for this class of hotel), but because the management needs to know about their carpet cleanliness I gave it 2 stars.
