It's hard to beat a warm summer night outdoors with a picnic dinner and a play. The Moonlight offers good/great productions at a decent price and a winning atmosphere. Lawn seating is first come first serve, while those who prefer/need a seat can purchase reserved chairs. The lawn areas are very wide and perfectly accommodate a large group of friends/family and all their goodies/blankets/chairs. There is an Italian restaurant inside the auditorium (Feliccia's) which serves good food and semi-high prices if you'd rather buy your dinner there. The productions themselves are generally quite good, sometimes great, though on occasion you'll get one that falls flat. The actors are always from the San Diego area, and the budget are tight, so as long as you don't go in expecting Broadway in Vista, you'll be satisfied. In the Winter, productions move inside at the Avo Theater in Downtown Vista, which doesn't have the same homey comfortable feel as the outdoor ampitheatre. Definitely worth a visit if you have a free afternoon just to kick back and relax.
