“Good for a comfortable night sleep”

Clean room, clean bathroom, comfortable for a good night's sleep. A short drive to Visalia - cute town, lots of shops and good places to eat.

very nice room with tea/coffee maker and all the usual facilities. We only stayed the one
night and decided to eat at the hotel. The meal was very good, just a small comment
the waitress needs a little more training she brought the main course before we had
eaten the starter and then came to ask if we would settle the bill while we were eating
our main course. However it was quite a pleasant overnight stay with no problems.

The outside of this hotel looked older, and like it had not been remodeled. My initial impression was smashed as soon as we walked into the lobby. The lobby and all the guest rooms had been remodeled within (what I estimate to be) the last 5 years. It was all new and nice, and the bed was super comfortable. Didn't have a chance to use the pool or restaurants, but the free wifi was reliable if a bit slow. The only other downside is this hotel is a bit outside of the main part of visalia, but it wasn't far from friends we were visiting. It also has an off-leash dog park next door, and they allow you to bring your pets.

I stayed at this hotel about a year and a half ago. Imagine my surprise when I just received a credit card bill with $640.00 from January 2009!!
I can't get anyone from the hotel to return my calls, and corporate headquarters didn't seem to care. It seems that someone else with a similar name phoned in reservations and the hotel pulled my card off of their computer!

I didn't think that hotels would keep credit information for more than a few months. WRONG!!! And, this hotel doesn't see fit to even verify the credit card with the 3 digit code on the back to make sure the phone customer actually HAS the card. Needless to say I will never stay at Holiday Inn again, and hope that this can serve as a warning to other customers who may be putting their personal information at risk

Went for a soccer tournament over the weekend.
The public areas of the hotel were not bad though the carpets seem tired. The rooms in the main building ( 5 floors) seemed a little newer than the 2 storey annex of rooms closer to the freeway. Having said that, noise from the freeway was not a problem for us in the main building.

There is an indoor pool in the main building which has hotel rooms adjacent to it. Somewhat funky.. could be noisy. Great for soccer teams to unwind!

Booking off their own website hivisaliahotel.com gives you the best rates, but information online and over the phone is not accurate. The website states that their deluxe rooms have a microwave & fridge. This is not correct. They wanted to charge an extra $10/night for these amenities, which is fine provided it is clear on the website.

Also, I called and asked about breakfast, which was not included in our reservation. I was given the buffet price, and when I asked about prices for kids, was told that kids 12 and under eat free when dining with an adult. Be aware that this offer extends only to a special kid's menu and doesn't apply to all reservations. You apparently need to have booked a room for at least $139 to get this kids-eat-free offer. We were not told this on the phone.
In fact, the brochure advertising this offer in their Guest Directory didn't state it either. It did state that the offer didn't apply to group bookings or soccer groups, which I understand, but I didn't book through our team.. I booked directly with the hotel through their website. Point is, be aware that the room rate dictates if this offer extends to you. The kid's menu is actually a good deal if you have to pay for it. Again, if only it was clear from the start.

The hotel reception staff/managers need to look at their own website/brochures and request a change. They were not the problem, but it didn't seem like they were aware of the inaccuracies.

My son and I were travelling with Titan Travel on an escorted trip through California, Nevada and Arizona. This hotel gave us the only bad experience of the holiday.
When we arrived, we received a drinks and nibbles reception but this was right in the middle of the reception area, a bit odd. There was a (presumably) Muslim wedding taking place in a couple of the conference rooms, which was fascinating to watch but the kids were unruly and running about making a nuisance of themselves. This was not the horrible thing.
My son and I checked into room 219 and he went straight to the toilet.
When he came out he was shaking like a leaf and white - when asked what on the earth the matter was, he explained that while on the toilet a very ghostly voice (that sounded like a man who had had had his throat cut) loudly uttered my son's name twice. He then flatly refused to stay in the room and we had great trouble getting another as the hotel was almost full.
Luckily the receptionist and our tour guide were very understanding but they may have thought we were nutters!
I believe my son, he wouldn't make that sort of thing up. He does have a ghost at work but he says hello when he goes in the room she inhabits and she normally behaves - this does not freak him out, but the Visalia voice certainly did.
Has anyone else had an experience in this particular room?

We just returned from our second stay at the Holiday Inn in Visalia for a soccer tournament. The main complaint I would have is the front desk was not as friendly as I would have liked. The rooms were fine but wish they had a small refridge. Our team members went to dinner one night and had a over two hour meal...too long. The bar was nice to relax in at night. Rooms were clean. Our room had the view of the top of the roof which was very disappointing and somewhat loud. The hotel is easy to get back on the freeway for those planning events. A beautiful park is in walking distance to.
