“Nice weekend getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

Stayed here for the first time for a quick weekend getaway January 12, 2013. Check-in was very easy and being first time guests the lady at the front desk mentioned she wanted to give us a nice room with a view. Our room overlooked the infinity pool and mountains. Floor to ceiling window, large sleeping area with a sitting area table, 2 chairs and couch & coffee table. Bathroom was seperated with one room vanity and large suken tub then next room shower stall and toilet. Room was clean but only thing missing is an in-room safe. You can use the downstairs safety deposit boxes, which can be inconvenient. But very clean hallways and very quiet.

Casino - busy but a large choice of slot machines and it is smoky but there is a large non-smoking area as well. And the later the evening the less the people, which I didn't expect so there was never a wait to play a machine. And there is a good assortment of machines.

Dining - being first time members you receive the lobster buffet for free. It is one of the better buffets I've been to. The food was presented very well, hot and a large choice to choose from. Each area was kept very clean and not to mention that the lobster was good! The wait was long, but well worth it. And the servers were on top of it as far as taking away plates & replenishing your soft drinks.

Breakfast the next morning is included with your room reservation. It had a nice assortment of cold/hot foods and beverages. You can eat outside around the infinity pool, but being January it was too cold. But I'm sure during the summer month's it can be quite nice.

Entertainment - they have live bands/singers playing and as the night went on people were up dancing.

Overall - definitely worth staying for a weekend getaway and hopefully you have luck at the machines!

We drove 50 miles with a promise of a free lobster buffet with a players club. We arrived at 5:15 pm and found out they were sold out. Who sells out of a buffet dinner by 5:15 pm? Its a deceptive offer and for shame on Valley View. Is that the only way you can get people to your casino? Save the gas and frustration and avoid this place. They don't deserve your money and business.

I stayed at the Valley view hotel casino with my wife for two nights on Dec 27-28, 2012 in room 511. The rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable with a great view of the mountains. You have to walk through a pretty smokey area to get to the rooms every time you enter/leave, but it is not a long walk (about a minute). There is also a non-smoking casino where the positive pressure keeps the smoke out (you can feel the wind if you stand in the connection area). There is WIFI but it is a bit expensive and charged per day (~$25/day - password protected - password obtained by a channel on your room TV) (understandable since they'd probably you entertain yourself in the casino instead of in your room!). They have a free valet parking service, but every time we went outside, the cars were all backed up so, while it may be convenient, it may not be your best choice. The parking garage is adjacent and is large and has easy access via stairs and elevator. The breakfast buffet was decent, though mostly continental style with some ham/egg/sausage biscuit added in on the first floor, next to the pool. I heard that the pool was heated but there was no one in the pool and touching the water, I would estimate that the water temperature was probably 70 F or below! There was a hot tub and it was warm but I didn't see any towels laid out at the towel table - it could be that you had to request them using the provided courtesy phone. We did not eat at any of the restaurants in the casino - they looked fine, but with so many choices in Escondido, we decided to go out and explore the city a bit. It is about a 15-20 minute drive from the casino to the areas in Escondido "worth visiting". I found the restaurant reviews on Yelp! for the area quite accurate and informative. Recommendations include the Stone Brewery (you need reservations unless you don't mind a 2 hour wait on a Thursday night), The California Avocado Grill on 136 West Grand Avenue, Escondido, CA 92025 • Phone (760) 291-1040, (which btw, is in a cluster of good looking restaurants that are worth trying out!), and Panya Thai kitchen (1101 W Valley Pkwy) - where a level 10 spiciness is true to it's word! (I've found that most Thai places aren't that spicy).

Great, awesome fun... buffet is amazingly delicious! Love the choices. Casino is fun got stuck on one slot was so funny. Service is great. Clean rooms. Didn't want to leave and to show for it we couldn't even find our way out of the parking garage lol.

With all the radio advertisements about the free lobster buffet we had to see it for ourseleves. The hotel is located about 15 miles off the 15 freeway. The road from the freeway is a two lane winding roadway through farm like counrty. Very inconvenient.
The hotel was nice but not as well desighned as the Agua Caliente Casino hotel in Rancho Mirage. The bathroom had only one sink, no television, the toilet and shower were located in one small room with towel racks over the toilet. After a shower you had to walk across the room to the toilet to dry yourself. (Towel hangers next the the shower would help)
The lines to the lobster buffet was very long. The shortest line was the VIP Pass line, you got a VIP pass when you checked into the Hotel. Those that are not staying at the hotel had to wait in the Non VIP line which was quite long. The buffet was very good. You also get free bottled tap water in your room.

Room Tip: If you are going for the free lobster buffet be sure to get a hotel room. When you check in you get...

The hotel here was pretty nice. The rooms were spacious, with table and couch, and reasonably priced. The bathroom was great with a separate shower and tub. Michelle, who was at the front desk in the morning, was helpful and understanding...

I would not stay here again, however. First, entering the casino from valet, there is no signage on how to get to the hotel. The food selection is quite limited. THe one good thing they do have is the buffet but be prepared to wait in line. There was no fitness center in the hotel and the earliest you can get breakfast is 730 by the pool. Because I was up earlier than that I went to get breakfast elsewhere, and when I returned, security told me that I couldn't take it in (I didn't see a way to get in the hotel without going thru casino).

talk about service, went up to valley view (on their shuttle bus) for a lobster eating contest...was kinda left hanging by the promotional radio station, so went ahead and booked the room myself...could not have been more pleased, (see below for room review), joleen and tim at the "bld" restaurant were fantastic, the front desk was very accomodating (down to even microwaving some butter from the breakfast buffet) for the "bug" eating contest...kudos to the promo staff (thanks allan for the great pic), thanks to veronica and betty (two real pros who love their job) even kevin (f and b director) who refereed the contest...with special thanks to rita contreras...we did not win, but boy, looking forward to entering next year...

Room Tip: all rooms are fantastic...hugh bathrooms, large flat screen hd tv's, plush towels...large comfy...
