“Trip to Discovery Kingdom”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

Newly renovated, clean, close to park. We took our twins to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and made the decision upon reviews to stay a little off the beaten path (surrounding park hotels). The hotel manager went out of his way to accommodate us during our stay. Hotel included Breakfast which was adequate noting exciting but yogurt and fruit and of course a pastry got the kids going!
This is a older two story motel with no outside entrances which is nice for security one small elevator to the second floor. The rooms had been completely renovated and were clean. Despite the proximity to the freeway it was not noisy. Not much around the hotel as far as restaurants but a short drive away. Bottom line price was right not far from park, manager went out of his way to make us feel welcomed.

Have stayed in other super 8 locations and we were not expecting much, but this place was remodeled just 9 months ago and it far exceeded our expectations, felt more like a Hotel than a Motel. Staff was a little uncertain when it came to recommendations and directions, and no phone books or take out menu book in the room like you would find in most hotel/motels so we just used our smart phones to find our way around, but the room was PERFECT with a few minor exceptions. Comfortable beds, clean, quiet, conveniently located just a 5-8 minute drive to Six Flaggs which was the reason for our stay. Loved the remodeled decor very sleek and modern but comfortable. Air conditioner felt louder than it really was if it was set to cool and would come on and off as the temperature adjusted, but if you just set it to fan only the outside air was perfect and didn't need to be cooler so the fan was just a nice white noise that stayed on constantly and I had no problem sleeping to (also liked that it seemed to block out any "hotel" noises from any other guests which I didn't seem to notice until it was off) Breakfast was also great, simple but varied including waffles, yogurt, danish, fruit, oatmeal, cereal and juice, coffee and the like (just wish they had two waffle makers hint hint) Only draw back was no pool. Would have given them excellent marks across the board but we rented two rooms and one of them smelled strongly of smoke when we entered even though this is a smoke free motel, and had plastic wrapped around the smoke detector as if someone who works there has been using it as a "smoking room". The front desk clerk was very accomodating though and quickly took care of us giving us a new room. The replacement room refrigerator did not work but we used the one in our room and decided not to make a big deal about it since we technically had two. Would definitely stay here again, and recommend it to others.

Upon pulling into the parking lot, we saw a school bus and a lot of kids outside the check-in area. Contemplated on looking for a new location, but decided against because it was almost 10pm... thank goodness the check-in staff gave a room on a floor with only 2 other rooms occupied by the kids. Carpets were new and not moldy, the fixtures were new without scratches and bedding was definitely plush and comfy. Sadly, the bath amenities could have been a little better than the basic soap bar with shampoo and lotion. We skipped the free breakfast because the kids were just everywhere. OTBW, do not rely on the WiFi.
