While the location is not inspiring - a strip mall next to Vons - the interior ambiance and vibe is comforting ( I really like restaurants that put eye level mirrors on walls so all diners can watch whats going on). At dinner, our menu was supplemented by a 'specials' page from which we tried Calamari steak (in a beurre blanc sauce), lamb chops, and a flat-iron steak (most entrees were $20 - $29). All were very tasty, well prepared and portion size was appropriate - quality and enough quantity. While the french onion soup was not overly inspired, everything else we had was excellent. The front of house staff was friendly, and the hostess definately French. My only real criticism is that the red wine (a few choices, all highly affordable) was far too warm - clearly stored in the room or near the kitchen. It would be easy to keep some in a wine cooler at 60 degrees for sale on site. Aside from that I strongly recommend this restaurant and I look forward to returning.
