“We were very pleased!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2008

We were only passing through town for one night and stayed at this Fairfield. It was very, very comfortable and clean. It appeared to have been recently either built or remodeled.

Breakfast came with the room and was one of those simple, continental types, but it was well-stocked and satisfying.

The staff couldn't have been friendlier and more helpful.

Restaurant tip: we came across a great BBQ place in town called Romi's BBQ. (The sign still says Porter's BBQ.) The place was filled with the local California Firemen who were fighting the wildfires so we figured it had to be good and it really was. The service was fantastic and the food was excellent (great menu variety.) We met the nice, new owner and we hope they do really well.

  • Liked — Clean rooms, friendly staff, great breakfasts.

We stayed here on our last day of our long weekend trip up the Pacific Coast. The beds & pillows were very comfy. The staff wasn't overly friendly though. All though when I called the hotel after I accidentally booked the hotel for Saturday instead of Sunday, the woman on the other line was VERY nice! The breakfast was good, they had waffles you can make (which is fun for the kids) and these Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches. Plus yogurt, fruit, cereal, etc. It's across the street from a Wal-Mart/Staples shopping area and Applebees is across the street. The Comfort Inn is also across the street where we stayed on our first night of the trip. My family enjoyed the heated indoor pool & hot tub. I was very happy with this hotel and plan on staying here again.

  • Liked — The comfy beds, great breakfast & pool area.
  • Disliked — Front desk staff could have been friendlier.

We ended up staying here unexpectedly on our way home from a weekend conference. We sprang for the jacuzzi room. The jacuzzi is in the bathroom, but with shutters that open to the bedroom so you can watch tv or talk. There is a separate shower area that is large enough for two. ;) The bed was comfortable - more comfy than the Hampton Inn next door. It was quiet and the desk clerk was very nice. Didn't get down in time for breakfast. Saw the workout room (a treadmill and bike) and the indoor pool. The wifi didn't work, so we used an ethernet cable and it was fine. I will agree with the comment about the bath towels, small and not soft. Kind of like they got the one's a larger Marriott was finished with! :) Overall, I would stay here again because of the bed and the location - right off the 101, across the street from a Wal Mart, Jack in the Box, Applebees, Starbucks, and gas station!

  • Liked — the bed was comfortable and the jacuzzi was fun!
  • Disliked — the bath towels

I held a business workshop for 3 days there and the hotel was very supportive. They brought in coffee and hot water into the room, no extra charge. They also let us use their dining area for our lunch and dinner meals we brought in.

The bedrooms have both a small microwave and a refrigerator.

The meeting room holds 35 people theater style. We had 20 people in a square with 6'X18" tables. It was a little snug and stuffy, so I'd recommend fewer people. The meeting space is at least 450 sq. feet - square size room.
The manager was very supportive and we just really enjoyed the facilities. Two caveats: The breakfast was starchy and our bedrooms were a little cramped - but it was overall a great stay!

  • Liked — They made sure we had everything we needed.
  • Disliked — The bedroom was a little cramped

We found this to be a very comfortable place to stay. Nicely furnished, big rooms, great shower, nice amenities, very quiet, great airconditioning, good location, good breakfast (considering it's free!), very nice staff. Not too expensive, either, We had a nice stay!

One of the previous reviewers had me worried with his description of thin walls etc. Also, as you drive through Ukiah, you begin to generate this mental picture of a dumpy little place since Ukiah seemed itself looks somewhat dumpy.

Have no fear - the place is fairly new - it is in a nicer area and is very neat and clean - both the exterior of the bldg, the interior and the rooms. The room had the usual amenities + more - coffee maker, fridge, microwave, mini-music system, another phone in the bathroom etc. The wireless connection in my room worked. We were right next to the ice machine which was somewhat noisy. Given previous comments about thin walls, I was worried - but even with the bed next to the wall with the ice machine, didn't hear a thing. The premises had a small exercise room, indoor swimming pool and a hot-tub. They even had a mini-laundry room with 2 washers & dryers. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was decent - bagel, english muffin, blueberry/brown muffins, danish, sausage biscuit sandwich, cereals, yogurt, juices, coffee, apples and bananas. Generally kept stocked up. Did I say the place was neat and clean! Overall, I would stay here anytime - no problems. We stayed on the way to Mendocino - took route 128 - I liked the redwood shaded forest that we drove through!

On to the negatives - the shower flow was adequate but not the greatest. I love a great shower to get me going. The bath towels were also not the greatest. Were it not for these 2 minor negatives, I would given the place one more extra star.

  • Liked — Very neat and clean
  • Disliked — Shower pressure and bath towels

The Fairfield Inn in Ukiah is right next door to a Hampton Inn which looked pretty nice but costs about twice as much as the Fairfield. The Fairfield is almost new; built about 2005, and it is very clean and well run. My husband and I both have allergies and were glad that: They do not accept pets and they minimally use air freshener - it's clean and new enough that they don't need to. The breakfast provided was not made to order, but there was enough variety for a good breakfast and the motel personnel kept the eating area well staffed, clean and well stocked. We also stayed at a Doubletree on this trip and it cost $100 more per night, did not include breakfast, had no microwave, and had a room that wasn't any larger than the one at the Fairfield. Our room was quiet and very comfortable. I recommend this hotel.

  • Liked — Very clean, good sized room.
  • Disliked — Nothing.
