“More than adequate”

We visited this hotel for two nights for a friend's wedding. First impressions are good - the hotel (not exactly a castle as such) is large and spacious with a really lovely old building being used as a wine bar which is well worth visiting. The staff don't speak much English but this is in a fairly remote village so that's hardly surprising.

The room was quite some walk from reception, the furthest away you could get. This meant however that it was very peaceful. It was however very small but perfectly clean. My only gripe with the bathroom is that it only had a bath with a very low mounted shower in it - if you wanted to stand under a shower you'd need to hold it up.

No air conditioning - don't know whether this would be an issue or not in the summer, but it wasn't for our trip.

The food was quite acceptable and the wine good and really cheap - a euro for a large glass, and if you wanted to take some away from their in-house winery then you'd be paying the princely sum of €1.10 per litre for the basic stuff! The room had been paid for for us but double rooms seemed to be about €45 per night including a fairly basic breakfast - certainly no complaints at all for that price.

Stayed there for 1 night. Rooms are clean but basic. Breakfast was tasty, but I did not really enjoy the dinner. We had a wine tasting evening and their wine was a real disappointment... If you want really good wine, try somewhere else.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms for disabled persons. Everything is very low :)

No a fairy tale castle but still interesting Lots of character good eating areas the wine bar/cellar is well worth a visit (open after 5 pm) Rooms not luxurious but clean a neat but very hot in August so hot in fact we had to scrounge the fan from reception as there is no aircon.

Spoilt only by the smell of ripe septic tanks which rather took the edge of eating outside but as they where emptied the next day must be an occasional problem

The place is - as it shows - an old castle converted into an inn with rather convent-like rooms, spartan but very clean. They have a wonderful tavern with an impressive wine collection, tasty local foods and a pleasant, careful personnel, discreetly at your disposal.
Perfect place for a company meeting; also perfect place to crash if you're in the area.
