“Two hours to Yosemite! Not a yosemite lodge, in my opinion”

This is a cute resort that has a lot to offer if you want to hang out in Twaine Harte area, BUT I am very upset that it advertises itself as a Yosemite lodging ( I found it on trip advisor while searching for yosemite lodging). My car navigator said two and a half hours to Yosemite, and several people in town said it was at least two hours to the park. The hotel staff swore it was only an hour and forty five minutes! The hotel said others do the yosemite trip in a day, but our intent was to do Yosemite for multiple days. While the hotel shows a map on it's website, there are no distances and it is deceiving. The roads are windy, up and down mountains. Note, once in Yosemite, it is also a ton of driving.

Unfortunately, the hotel refused to refund the last 2 days of my 4 day trip, so that I could move closer to the park and actually visit it as planned. After multiple calls to expedia, with whom I booked the trip, I got a refund for the last two days.

On the plus side, my cabin blue oak was very large (maybe 1000 sq feet, but this is one of their bigger cottage/cabins), the hotel pool is super cute with waterfalls and a couple whirlpools and a wading area for smaller kids. Great for kids that are not too crazy, and won't bonk their heads on the rocks on the side. Also game room seemed new. Pool area is really pleasant. Great place if you just want to hang out in Twaine Harte. Fyi don't miss the little coffee shop in Twaine Harte that has a garden shop attached, called Blossom cafe I think. Awesome food and a lovely place to sit.

In June, 2011, on a trip to Yosemite, we stayed at the Lazy Z resort. What a great escape. Beautiful cabin in the woods, everything furnished, had a shower, coffee maker, microwave, and comfortable bed and linens. We saw wildlife daily, and enjoyed the quiet location yet convenience to nearby towns. One nice touch was that the management had a notebook filled with information on nearby things to do, from wine tasting to exploring gold mines and caverns. A great find and very reasonable.

Stayed from Thursday to Sunday and had a ball. The cabin(Sugar Pine #3) was spacious and warm with everything we needed to enjoy a few days away from everything. The Recreation room was great with pool table, darts, big screen TV, teriffic stereo and a warm crackling fire at oput fingertips. Each day ended with a dip in the hot tub.... great stuff and a very cooperative and responsive staff!!! We would highly recommend the Lazy Z :-)

We originally booked a 4 and 2 bed cabin but were contacted and asked if we could take the 6 bed Zelco cabin in town. We agreed but when we eventually found the resort (don't use satnav - we wasted 30 minutes) we found the resort almost deserted apart from one guy by the pool on his cellphone telling someone how it was his first holiday in 2 years but he still needed to be on the phone to work reminding everyone just how important he is.

The Zelco is NOT a 6 berth cabin if you have 4 adults and 2 teenagers as we did. As well as poor sleeping arrangements, there was a lack of cutlery, cookware and anywhere to sit (other than outside, so you had best hope the weather is good. We were lucky in this respect). All in all, disappointing value for money.

Location, location, location. BUT: The cottages are TINY. In our "4-person" cottage (#15), two people couldn't walk past each other between the beds, the tiny table seated two, and there was no sink in the "bathroom" (toilet and shower stall). If you want to use the microwave, bring your own microwavable dishes. The "water feature" is pretty but the Health Department does not allow the management to call it a "pool" because it is VERY dangerous for small swimmers; in fact there's a "no swimming" sign. The pool table is fine if you don't mind paying to use it. The ping-pong table is hopelessly warped. And be warned: they offer bribes ("discounts") to people who write "positive" reviews.
