“My favorite city over Lake Tahoe Area”
Reviewed January 12, 2011

Truckee is such a beautiful city with a lot of things to do for a small city.
There are a lot of ski resort all over the city, the Old Town is amazing, just like those old western movies. Summertime is awesome, there are great lakes and lots of activities. The people in truckee is very nice.

My tip is, if you are going to ski or snowboard for the first time, go up the Donner Summit, at the Donner Ski Ranch. It´s a amazing place for beginners and for expert as well. If you like some more radical skiing and snowboarding go to Sugar Bowl, right in front of Donner Ski Ranch.

Nice place to visit and to live.

“Outdoor Beauty”
Reviewed October 8, 2010

Love all the outdoor activities in this area. Summer water sports, winter snow sports, hiking, fishing, camping, and on and on. The downside is that it is really hit and miss when it comes to finding a good restaurant. Ask a local for a recommendation or you will end up paying a lot of money for awful food.

“QUAINT LITTLE TOWN”
Reviewed November 13, 2009

Stayed in Truckee to visit Lake Tahoe. It is very quaint with little gift shops, bars and restaurants. I would recommend travellers to stay here and discover [ what us Brits think of as ] a typical American town.

“A City Where You Can Go Back in Time”
Reviewed October 8, 2009

It's like going back in time, to the early days, when mines flourished and the wild west was wild. There are many attractions in Truckee, as well as 3 watering holes to wet your whistle! There is a once a week outdoor flea market where vendors wares are sold and there are many restaurants and lodging to accomodate the weary traveler. You can also find the river in Truckee, if you care to raft or boat.

“Truckee: Family fun and great food”
Reviewed May 18, 2009

We have visited Truckee many times for winter skiing and have always had a great time. It's been fun to watch the town "grow up"--as more restaurants and shops have opened. Lately, we have made it our year-round vacation spot.

Some of our favorite restaurants are: Squeeze In (breakfast), El Toro (family dinner), Zano's Italian (family dinner), Village pizza (family lunch and dinner), and Moody's (special dinner). For adults, there are several wonderful wine bars in the downtown section (The Pour House and Trio) are our favorites.

There are many year-round things to do in Truckee--hiking (we love hiking above Donner Lake), golfing, boating, fishing, horseback riding, and mountain biking (at Northstar). And of course skiing, snowboarding, and sledding in the winter.

Truckee is located 15 minutes north of Tahoe City, 30 minutes west of Reno, and two hours north of Sacramento.
