We recently got married at The Cedar House, and the experience was incredible. We'd stayed here a couple times before, so we already had fond memories. But having a wedding at a hotel really puts the service to the test. Not only was the staff up to the task, but they really put a gleaming polish on an already wonderful experience. All of our family and friends stayed at the hotel, and the owners couldn't have been more accommodating to everyone. We've heard nothing but thanks and praise for our recommendation from our guests to stay at Cedar House. From the easy travel access to the incredible culinary experience, it sounds like it was a real hit with everyone.

Now the only thing that will set Cedar House apart from other area hotels (which you may find either a bad thing or a great thing), is that they're not a resort. They're a hotel. So while there's not a skating rink, a dozen restaurants, and 5 Starbucks on-site... There are also not hundreds of little kids running back and forth in the halls in ski boots at 6:00 in the morning. There is, however, one unbelievably good restaurant on-site (Stella). And you'd be doing yourself a major disservice if you didn't make reservations to eat dinner here at least once (Check their weekly schedule for open hours). Plus, breakfast is complimentary to all hotel guests every day. I'm talking about a house-made bread, eggs, and bacon breakfast too. Not a basket full of danishes from the gas station.

All in all, if you want a quiet hotel room, amazing food, top-notch service, and access to every mountain activity you can think of from fishing to heli-skiing, this is the place for you.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have balconies, so if it might be worth it to call the front desk to ensure that you g...

The Cedar House Sport Hotel is a convenient place to stay if you want to be near Truckee and NorthStar. The rooms are very comfortable with nice beds and your own duvet. Great pillows too! They serve a nice breakfast that comes with the room. Expresso cafes are extra but delicious. A very friendly staff awaits your arrival.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor and farthest from the street. The suites are nice and come with an a...

First time staying at The Cedar House but definitely won't be our last. Beautiful rustic modern architecture throughout the property. Perfectly appointed rooms with comfy beds, private porches, and spacious bathrooms. My wife and I were on a long ski weekend and took advantage of the stay two get a third night free promotion. The deal is valid all winter long (except for President's Day week). The promo brought down our nightly room rate to less $140/nt - exceptional value for the quality of accommodation plus full, hearty breakfast every morning. We stayed in a "Single Queen" room and had plenty of space for us and all our ski gear. Super friendly staff. And their restaurant, Stella, is outstanding - be sure to book a table in advance of your arrival, you won't regret it.

Love the Hotel and it's service, but steer clear of room 106 - it is positioned toward the street and is street level, allowing too much road noise for a good nights sleep.

Overall, rooms are well appointed and service is great. In the end we felt the price ($275 pn) was not justified..

Third time here, and as always, perfect! Brought our dog (they are very pet friendly for well behaved pets). Very comfortable room, stocked with treats for the dog. Very comfortable bed, and amazing breakfast at Stella in the morning (not you typical hotel breakfast, this is serious breakfast!). Can't wait to return AGAIN!

Room Tip: We have never had a bad room here.

We actually really liked staying in Trukee as opposed to Tahoe itself as we were there in summer and Tahoe just seemed a little sad off season . The staff at the hotel were helpful with suggested hikes , bike rides etc. and when we arrived late at night were very welcoming. the "newsletter" with suggested hikes etc was really great . The room was comfortable and although there were a few dogs staying on the ground floor, we didn't hear any barking or have any issues with that. The breakfast is ok but nothing to rave about. There is quite a bit of road noise and as it was summer and we wanted the door open , it was a bit annoying as the morning traffic woke us up. The spa is nice but has no aspect as you just look onto a car park and the back of the hotel. The laundry service was very good.
We had 2 amazing meals in Trukee - (the Drunken Monkey and Moody's bistro ) and highly recommend them.

Room Tip: top floor if you want to avoid dogs , back of hotel if you want to minimise noise

First of all, let me say that the staff at the Cedar House were extremely nice. We stayed there because they allowed pets, although I thought the $50 nonrefundable fee was a bit high. The room was just not that exceptional and I thought the buffet breakfast included in the price was just okay. We enjoyed our stay but I don't think I would go back because of the price.
