We had a large party here and at all times were comfortable, well tended, and well fed. Rumor has it that Paul McCartney has a guitar here which on occasion when in Lake Tahoe he eats dinner and plays a few tunes to the delight of the diners. I heard this from two different sources when there but this rumor is not confirmed. Go anyway you will enjoy it.

Loved the food selection and large portions, as well as the heavy handed free pour of the bartenders. Lovely ambiance, especially the fire pits outside.

We have been to Moody's for dinner many times but recently went after skiing with two families to the bar for drinks and casual dining. It was wonderful! The teens loved the food and Charles Chaplin films being shown. We enjoyed the menu and actually stayed on until the dinner menu arrived (5 p.m.). The waiter was absolutely wonderful and made it inviting to spend the time, explore the menu and go through a bottle of wine, a few drinks and wonderful local beer. Instead of dinner we sampled a wide array of the first courses. Both the Beet salad and Citrus salad were very nice. We had the truffle fries covered in freshly grated cheese and herbs- which were wonderful with the Truckee beer. The regular fries were not only boring, but didn't taste terribly fresh and had been over fried. The Tomato Soup was just as wonderful as ever and the pastry had really puffed well. The special Chicken Tortilla soup was underwhelming. More of a Bisque with a couple of thin slices of avocado and two strips of tortilla chips. I think I would pass in the future. The Burger eaters were very happy - Enormous portions and no one finished theirs. The waiter recommended the veggie burger with bacon which one of the teens tried and loved! The Ahi apetizer was good but not astounding - presentation made it interesting, but it lacked much flavor beyond the aoli. The pizzas were all a hit. The Margarita was surprisingly wonderful with the addition of perfectly non-bruised fresh basil that just brought the pizza alive. The Duck liver pate was rather soupy, which our waiter handled beautifully by removing it from the menu and apologizing before I had said anything. It was a wonderful way to experience Moody's that makes it more flexible for families.

Enjoyed the calamari, it had a delicous dipping sauce. Chicken entree with root veggies, bison burger with fries and hangar steak were all very good. Fries were only average. Service was excellent, bus people were hustling to keep plates cleared and water filled. Had an energetic atmosphere. A very nice dining experience.

We spend a few weeks/weekends in Truckee each year and routinely scout the restaurants and bars for lunch of dinner. Moody's has a nice atmosphere - laid back but just a bit upscale. Yesterday was snowing in Truckee and we retreated to Moody's for a stunning Caesar salad with a really nice whole anchovy and tomato soup "en croute" at the bar.
