“Unassuming on the outside, great on the inside”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

We've been to Village Pizzeria at least seven times and have never been disappointed. In fact, whenever we visit the Truckee area we always make sure to include a stop here. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and is extremely unassuming. In fact, their name isn't even on the outside of the building which is across from SaveMart. It just says "PIZZA" and if I were to judge from the outside I'd think it was just an ordinary pizza joint. But on the inside the restaurant is decorated very nicely in a Tahoe theme, is very well lit, and has all booths, many of them close to a window. The owners are super friendly and a true testimony is that this place is very well supported by the local community. It's a great place for adults and kids alike.

We love their pizzas and the pastas are always a healthy serving. The Chicken Marsala and Chicken Piccata are really good and we absolutely love their pasta bread. It comes with all the pasta and entrée dishes and is their pizza dough baked into a individual loaf with a slab of the most fabulous garlic butter on top. They just recently reduced the size of their pasta bread serving but it's still plenty big for one person (my husband and I share one and take the other home).

Unfortunately the service is very inconsistent (good thing the food is consistent). At times we've had friendly, cheerful, johnny-on-the-spot waitresses and other times, like today for lunch, we had a waitress that won't look us in the eyes, was unwilling to answer questions, and treated us like we were interrupting her day. In fact, she made a mistake on our bill (the bill was for one amount and she ran the credit card for a different amount) and she didn't even say she as sorry.

I also wish they printed take home menus so we could order take out as it seems like a popular thing to do there (lots of people popping in to pick up pizzas). Their menu online is very abbreviated and doesn't offer everything that's offered in the restaurant.

Go . . and we'll be back too.

“Not great”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

Service was slow and we all had upset stomachs later that night. Pizza was subpar at best. Like a lot of places in tourist areas it survives due to lack of choices.

“love the food”

Large portions, good for sharing, we love their pesto, marinara, and bread. We often take out food when we are there.

“The pizza bread might be addictive!”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

A winter storm forced us to stay in Truckee on our way to San Francisco for the holidays. Village Pizzeria was walking distance from our hotel. The restaurant is quite unassuming from the outside but the interior is warm and inviting despite the fact that this is a large restaurant. We ordered pasta dishes (not pizza!). They were excellent but the pizza bread stole the show. It just came with our entrees and when we asked the waitress she explained it is their specialty. Basically it is their pizza dough baked like a dinner roll and covered with a delicious herb/garlic butter. Fabulous!

“Good Pizza place in Truckee”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Have had dinner here for a couple of times, pizzas are always great, if you're in the area it's a great option for dinner or pizza!
