“Giant Rolls, Great Sake Menu”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

The Ahi Poke with avocado was super yummy, kinda pricey but the portion was more than I expected. And cut rolls were gigantic, definitely can't talk with one of those in your mouth! And our smiling server was very patient and knowledgable.

Initially, we walked all over downtown on a mission for dinner and nothing really caught our eye, should have just stopped here first as it was conveniently across the street from our hotel.

Overpriced. Mediocre fish. Ramen noodle soup was very disappointing. I would be afraid to get some of the real sashimis nigiri or rolls. But as my dining companion said,"Not bad for Truckee". So don't expect Bay Area cuisine at the Drunken Monkey.

“horrible/ sick later”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Sushi was not fresh, very fishy and salmon had chunks of grey and brown. Obviously not a good cut and taste was horrible. Salad was very untasteful and bitter. I can deal with a bad restaurant and never go back but my husband and I were very sick within two hours. I never post but I would not want this ruining someone else's trip.

“The Search for Sushi Stops Here”

Best sushi in Tahoe. Be adventurous and sit at the sushi bar and let the chef do his thing. You'll have rolls you've never experienced before and sashimi arrangement that are surprising. A bit noisy, but every place seems to be louder than I'd like.

“Best in North Tahoe!”
Reviewed November 23, 2012

We have a few wanta be sushi places in the area here, and most dissapoint one way or another. The Drunken Monkey was a great surprise for us. We visited with another couple. They did not take reservations for parties of less than six. So we waited all but 5 minutes the night before thanksgiving. Service was very good. The food came out with great timing! We had ordered about six-seven different rolls etc., and the coordination was great! The food was great tasting as well. The Calomari dish (Appitizer) was the best any of us had ever had! (And our friend is a very well renown caterier in the area!) By the way it was her choice of dining places for her birthday on this night.....!
We will return! As this place is a welcome relief to the otherwise lack luster or poorly run sushi places in North Tahoe/Truckee area.
