Nestled high above NorthStar Base, this Ritz Carlton was the picture of western elegance. My room was delightful, overlooking the slopes. I enjoyed the fireplace with sitting area as I was on east coast time and being able to sit for a few hours with a coffee and my book added to my relaxation. I loved sitting and working in the lobby, watching the skiers rest and enjoy smores.

This was my first trip to snowboarding in Tahoe. My wife and I wanted a hotel that had some nice common areas to relax in when we wanted to get out of our room and we wanted to have easy access to the slopes. The Ritz provided both.

The room was great, nice view, good size, and well put together. The food in the lobby lounge was good though not excellent. Good enough though.

The only downside is probably something that depends on what you like. I find the Ritz to be a little obsequious with their staff trying a little too hard in ways that don't come across as authentic.

This was the second time visiting the RC Lake Tahoe and it won't be the last! Everything and everyone made our quick, mid-week getaway a wonderful experience. The rooms were outstanding in comfort, as we had previously experienced. All the usual inclusions for a plush living space. As was the case with our first visit, we were on the Club Level for our stay. While the Club experience was great last year, this year the staff outdid themselves. The whole team, especially Olivia, were so pleasant - perfect hosts - and truly made such a wonderful impact on our stay. An additional feature that we loved was how the GM and Exec Chef would pay visit to the Club Lounge to check in on the guests. Nice touch! The most impressive element was that each and every team member showed genuine care in our comfort - even the Engineer, John, who quickly, kindly and with genuine understanding, rectified a minor challenge with a noise in the room.
We did have a chance to try the new Backyard BBQ and it was fantastic! Tasty, prompt service and excellent value. Manzanita saw us enjoying cocktails with the friendly bartender and the gracious servers. The Fitness Center Attendants, the Spa Staff....there was not a soul who did not smile and warm up our day. I can't express enough our thanks for making such a special trip for us - thank you team of the Ritz Carlton Lake Tahoe.

Room Tip: Splurge on the Club Level - it is a wonderful retreat.

We stayed here for 3 nights for a weekend ski getaway with my 2 teenage girls. My husband and I couldn't be happier how well they treated us and my girls. It is an experience they will cherish and I'm glad ritz carlton was part of it. The staff left an impression to them about how nice everyone is and staff always go above and beyond what they do here. My daughter had to print something at business center while we were having dinner at " living room" and the wait staff accompanied her personally to the business center. Then, my 11 year old daughter was feeling sick and gave her honey for her tea. These are minor things but made a difference for them. The ski valet is definitely super nice and attentive. Our experience her worth every penny we spent! Thank you for a superb service!

This property was beautiful, and service was top notch. The rooms were huge, with plenty of room for seating & sleeping, and decorated beautifully! The cost of the room was average for a 5 star hotel, but beware of the typical "extras", parking $35, resort fee $25.... As the saying goes, you get what you pay for, which in this case was 5 star service & a 5 star experience for a 5 star price. The only negative we experienced was the day we checked out. The hotel was sold out & they did not have adequate staffing to assist guests with luggage upon check out. We experienced a 30+ minute wait for a luggage cart and eventually packed our own bags down. This hotel is set in a private location in the mountains, and would recommend to someone seeking a relaxing, quiet getaway.

I was not sure I was going to write a review here, because the vast majority of reviews are justifiably excellent, and I felt I would just add echoes to the praise.

However the service in this hotel is special - really special. We booked into a Club room which gives access to the Club lounge on the 5th Floor which provides light meals, the staff here are excellent, they could not treat you better and nothing is too much trouble.

To be truthful we have had a couple of issues whilst we've stayed here and in an establishment this size the occasional hick up is human. What is different at this hotel is the way the staff go about putting any complaint, however minor, right. We could not fault the attentive response.

There are also numerous human touches - hand written welcome notes & small gifts.

I think this hotel is excellent value and if service is your thing a great organisation to emulate.
