“A 5 star experience, with a 5 star price”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2014

This property was beautiful, and service was top notch. The rooms were huge, with plenty of room for seating & sleeping, and decorated beautifully! The cost of the room was average for a 5 star hotel, but beware of the typical "extras", parking $35, resort fee $25.... As the saying goes, you get what you pay for, which in this case was 5 star service & a 5 star experience for a 5 star price. The only negative we experienced was the day we checked out. The hotel was sold out & they did not have adequate staffing to assist guests with luggage upon check out. We experienced a 30+ minute wait for a luggage cart and eventually packed our own bags down. This hotel is set in a private location in the mountains, and would recommend to someone seeking a relaxing, quiet getaway.

I was not sure I was going to write a review here, because the vast majority of reviews are justifiably excellent, and I felt I would just add echoes to the praise.

However the service in this hotel is special - really special. We booked into a Club room which gives access to the Club lounge on the 5th Floor which provides light meals, the staff here are excellent, they could not treat you better and nothing is too much trouble.

To be truthful we have had a couple of issues whilst we've stayed here and in an establishment this size the occasional hick up is human. What is different at this hotel is the way the staff go about putting any complaint, however minor, right. We could not fault the attentive response.

There are also numerous human touches - hand written welcome notes & small gifts.

I think this hotel is excellent value and if service is your thing a great organisation to emulate.

Ritz Carlton is fantastic if expensive base for skiiing in Northstar... everything set up to make skiing really easy with kids, ski in / ski out. Ski school meets 30ft from back door. They do Smores at 4.30pm round the fire pit. Restaurant choice a little limited, but you won't notice over weekend. Rooms are good. Outside heated pool is great apres-ski!

My husband, two children and I stayed for two nights before heading onwards to the Marriott Grand Residence for two weeks. We had high expectations and were not disappointed. Our room was perfect (I think we had a deluxe double which was fine sharing for a few nights), the service was fantastic and the experience was first class. We are avid skiers and coming all the way from Australia we were of course a bit disappointed by the lack of snow. However you can't control mother nature. There were a number of highlights. The location..true ski-in-ski-out. Dining at Manzanita…..outstanding. The smoores each evening, kids loved. The outdoor hot tubs lovely and to top it all off the ski concierge is worth every cent of the resort fee. This was our first time staying at a Ritz Carlton and will most definitely return. I left a few things behind in room and they were couriered to me free of charge to me here at the Marriott with a lovely note enclosed. Thank you! We will most definitely return to Ritz Carlton properties and happily pay the premium for quality and service. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The staff at the Ritz-Carlton were very kind and attentive. Although there was a record low in snowfall, we still had a wonderful time. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and my two boys adored the 'find the Ritz teddy bear' every day. The food was also really good and the ski-in/ski-out was terrific!! We were really pleased with all aspects of our stay. Would definitely recommend this hotel!!

Room Tip: Club level floors are ideas for families!

The ski-in ski-out here is great! Ski services were awesome and the suite we had was spacious, clean and comfortable. Our luggage was torn by the airline and the concierge had someone repair it for us!

Northstar is a great family mountain! You can be comfortable here at all ski/boarding ability levels.
Conditions were very good on the mountain. Grooming was well done.

It was great to be in a place where there was so much snow and cold weather. We even did the snowmobile thing. Woohoo. The staff and property were outstanding. A must do for married couples. Children would enjoy this property as well. Hoping to return for a visit in the next 3 years. God did a perfect work here.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the mountains. There are many available.
